WanderingHeart 141 Posted May 2, 2021 Hello all, I like spicy food like buffalo sauce, a bit of cayenne in my cooking, Sriracha, etc. I had some cayenne in a feta/Greek yogurt dip and it was delicious but I **** my pants after!!! Granted, that is generally a side effect, but I stayed away from spicy after that. I ate spicy foods no prob while I was pregnant so this reaction is a surprise. If you enjoy some spice, when was it okay after surgery? I’m ~4 weeks out
ms.sss 15,707 Posted May 2, 2021 I adding cayenne and hot sauces to my food once I past the liquid phase. The first time I think was around 3 weeks when I put tobasco on my eggs. No issues.
Crick 145 Posted May 3, 2021 I eat salsa all the time once I went to regular foods and I use Cajun spices on my grilled veggies. No problems for me.
Soon2bFit21 109 Posted May 3, 2021 I’m 1 month post as well and haven’t had any issues with spicer foods. I think it just depends on the person.
LiteWeight1973 20 Posted May 3, 2021 (edited) I'm from Louisiana and think I had Tabasco in my bottle. I never stopped or held back on the the spicy things, and wasn't advised to. I had Tabasco, Frank's Red Hot, cayenne, all in the liquid phase, now on solids and no problem. My first solid food once allowed was some boiled crawfish! lizonaplane 1,613 Posted May 3, 2021 I'm pre-surgery, but I will say that you've only given it one test. When my brother was little, we thought he might be allergic to dairy, so we did a few dairy free trials, and the first two or three times we reintroduced dairy he got sick - turns out it was just a coincidence (good thing; he's a cheese fiend!). I would wait a week or two and try again. When you are near a toilet... Also, it could just be sensitive right now and you'll be fine once you're fully healed. I hope so, because I don't want to have to give up hot stuff after my surgery!
qianmij 31 Posted May 3, 2021 If I eat something too spicy, my stomach turns over and I just feel sick. For me, it depends on the spice level, but I find I try to stay away from it in general at 7mos out. **I prefer to eat bird’s eye peppers, Thai peppers, etc. so this may not apply to you!**
STLoser 1,099 Posted May 5, 2021 I'm 9 months post op Loop DS and I haven't had any trouble with spicy foods, which are a big favorite of mine. The spicier, the better! I was able to eat spicy food pretty early on, like hot sauce on eggs, and didn't have any problem. lvidacovich 372 Posted May 19, 2021 Post-op, 18 months or so. I CRAVE hot food way more than I did before surgery, no issues at all. The spicier the better! 1 SparklesE reacted to this
