I had surgery on 4/22 - Today marks 1 week. I feel great so far. I do feel hungry ( I think ) but I'm getting through it.

So, I want to start working out again - what have you all done when first starting out? Before surgery I lifted weights, but didn't do much cardio.

Most surgeons say no weights right after surgery (usually 4-6 weeks), so definitely wait until you are cleared for that. I would also suggest you refer to your surgeon's guidance for cardio, but most surgeons allow walking immediately.

I didn't do much exercise before surgery, but I started doing cardio a few weeks after surgery. A lot of people here recommended Leslie Sansone Walk at Home videos (many of which are available for free on YouTube), so that's where I started and I've stuck with it. I started with 15-minute videos, but now I do 30-50 minutes every day.

For sure check with your team before doing any strength training and strenuous cardio/high impact. 1 week out I was walking and that was it. I was cleared at 6 weeks and am back to running and weight lifting daily.

Also keep in mind that some people fatigue really quickly and with little warning early on. So if you plan to go for a walk, start with a short walk around the block and see how you feel.

the only thing I was cleared to do before the four-week mark was walk. At four weeks out, I was cleared to everything but weights. I could do those starting at eight weeks out.

at first I was still too heavy to do many types of cardio, so I mostly walked, swam, and did Water aerobics classes. I still do all those - plus biking.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
