One week countdown for me! This time next Thursday, I should be in the recovery room.

Did my pre-op testing and registration at the hospital yesterday. No word about the upper GI or blood test results, but my EKG, BP, and mini-exam were all good. Fingers crossed there's not a hernia or anything that would delay my surgery. Hopefully no news is good news!

I just got home from my preop visit with my surgeon and my preadmission testing appointment afterwards. Whew! I’m worn out now! June 1st will be here before I know it...OMG it’s really getting close! I’m so nervous, excited, scared, etc etc!!!

Oh and they told me to be at the hospital by 5am - UGH!!! That’s a half hour earlier than they told me before. I thought 5:30am was bad enough but I guess I was wrong!

Luckily I'm one of the later surgeries so I don't have to be there until 9:00 am. Although, that just means I'll be thirsty longer. LOL

I'm June 9th! On my second day of the Optifast liquid diet. I'm starting to feel that bit of hunger but I'm staying strong! Still have 12 days left and I'd love to hit 300 before surgery. I weighed in this morning at 305. 7 months ago I was 330. Things are happening!!!!

So exciting to see so many getting so close to the big day!! I had my groceries delivered today for my liquid diet and was both laughing at the pile of Protein Shakes piled outside my door and felt my nerves go up a bit. Getting so close! I go in for my preop visit on 6/1 followed up by a Covid test on 6/8. I'm already figuring out lots of way to stay busy over the next two weeks! I've been putting together an Amazon order with some small plates/forks, a Vitamin organizer, all my Vitamins and some Gatorade Protein Water and some Protein2O. What's everyone else doing to get ready?

Same for me luckily I get to skip the liquid diet part though.

On another good note, my hospital system cancelled my covid test since I’m fully vaccinated and they could prove it through the state vaccination database. Whoo-hoo!! As of yesterday they no longer require it in a case like mine!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
