Belly Fat

Recommended Posts

I had RNY in 2019. I have lost 83 lbs. I walk daily and started ab workouts, yes while walking, to try to firm up my stomach. To me it does not look like I have a lot of loose skin on my stomach and it feels hard not soft. I look 6-7 months pregnant still. I do carry most of my weight in my stomach area. I am almost at my "goal" weight I have set for myself. Any ideas on how to get rid of my "baby"? TYIA

If you are that close to goal I wouldn't be surprised if the last pounds come straight from your belly area. My weight was stable at the 6 month mark but my body still changed and got smaller in some places and bigger in others. It may take some time to see what your long term results will look like.

We all carry our weight in different places regardless of what we weigh. I’m still an hour glass & my friend is still pear shaped. Unfortunately we can’t do much to change that except through surgery. liposuction maybe an option if it continues to bother you though you may end up with more loose skin.

It sounds like you’ve been fortunate in regards to not having a lot of loose skin though. I was doing well until I lost the 10kg below my goal but I don’t have a lot - pinches not handfuls. 😁 I also found that in the months after I lost the weight, the remaining fat redistributed itself a bit. My face doesn’t look as gaunt & my butt, while still pretty flat & has a little more shape. So the body you have when you hit goal may be a little different a few months later.

Congrats on your weight loss so far.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
