SoulGardener 101 Posted April 27, 2021 Yes. I am ashamed. I ate a cup of nonfat yogurt with 1/8 cup of brown sugar and cocoa. Boy was it good but it wasn’t worth it. I felt much better physically the rest of the day after that, but I got on the scale tonight and I weigh 5 pounds more than I did this morning. So now I have lost a net 7 pounds instead of 12 in 6 days. I’m not going to kick myself over it. For now I guess I’ve got to continue the Keto journey even if i do not feel well most of the time. Because I’ve passed out once and almost again yesterday, I am going to call the general doctor tomorrow to schedule an appointment before surgery. Because I don’t think things are right with my body. The bariatric clinic says it is not the diet but I am not convinced of that. It may be that some people just cannot do well on a plan that has only 10 grams of carbs per day and 700 calories. I mean, I am 65 years old.
kristieshannon 1,668 Posted April 27, 2021 No way that 1 cup of yogurt + some brown sugar and cocoa caused a 5lb weight gain, most of that is likely Water if you stuck to your diet otherwise. Work closely with the nutritionist at your surgeon’s office to find a plan that is sustainable for you and hang in there. I have never eaten as little as 10g carb/day during this entire process and have been very successful. I think the lowest I ever did was 25g carb/day and that was quite short term. Now that I am nearing maintenance my guideline, per my surgeon’s office, is 70-80g protein/day and to just keep my carbs lower than my Protein. It gets better! 1 lizonaplane reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 27, 2021 to gain five pounds of true weight, you would have to eat 17,500 calories over and above what your body needs. So it's definitely Water weight. unsweetened cocoa powder shouldn't be an issue. A tablespoon of that is something like 15 calories, and it's loaded with antioxidants. The brown sugar is problematic, though, esp if you're doing Keto. Swerve makes a great brown sugar alternative, if your body is OK with artificial sweeteners. 2 lizonaplane and ImsexyandIknowit reacted to this
