I'm not sure you'll want to buy a whole lot.. I found that my tastes changed after surgery and somethings I could tolerate better than others. One thing that I did really enjoy after surgery was Pedialyte and sugar free popsicles.

Thank you! I appreciate any feedback as I don't want to buy a product that is gross, you're already recovering the last thing I want to do is recover from bad taste! 😝

Popsicles were life savers. The crunch alone was worth it!

Unjury makes some savory flavored soups--chicken and chili. There may have been others. That was a nice break from the usual sweet shakes. I also bought some canned gumbo and strained it just to get a different flavor.

I made my Protein Shakes in the blender with fat-free Fairlife milk. It whips up completely frothy--much better than shaken or stirred Protein Drinks.

I bought Swanson Sipping Bone Broth...45 calories, 9 grams of protein...the chicken with Lemon and Rosemary was my favorite, but they also had plain chicken and Chicken with Ginger and Tumeric.

Thank you! I will check out Unjury. I have not even heard of Fairlife Milk till researching on this site.

I just started my pre-op diet today and tried the chicken flavored Unjury Protein Powder. I didn't love it. You have to heat the Water to 140 degrees before adding the mix (no hotter or it changes consistency), which was just not quite hot enough for my taste and seemed a little chalky. I think I'll stick with Protein Shakes, and sip broth to get some saltiness to counter the sweet. I'll definitely check out the Swanson's bone broth!

My pre-op diet doesn't allow milk of any kind, but I can have low fat cottage cheese and greek yogurt.

What brand of sugar free popsicles are you all buying? I can't seem to find any and I think that would be a great thing to have on hand.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
