Is this normal? I am 4 weeks and 2 days post op sleeve. I am consuming 60-80 gm Protein and drinking 64 oz Fluid every day. My calorie intake is 400-600 per day. I am supposed to be at least walking for exercise. I do about half the time but I am so weak. I get lightheaded and nauseous frequently. I am just too weak to do anything. When will this end? I want to feel alive again.

It seems like your calories might be a bit low...I think I was getting closer to 800 calories at that time. I also did not do a lot of exercise until I was able to add more calories...but I'm just lazy.

I felt weak too for several weeks afterwards, but I added a sublingual B12 and that helped alot. I also sipped apple juice to make sure my sugar stayed up.

Were you actually told to keep your calories that low? 600 was more like my floor than ceiling. I ate between 600-800 calories for the first few months and then a steady progression to 800 where I stayed for some time. 400 just seems really low. Have you talked to your team about this?

Try an electrolyte drink to give you a boost of energy. I found Hydralite very helpful when I had this problem. I carried a bottle of it everywhere though it was pretty sweet. The lack of energy did persist for quite some time for me. I just took things slowly. Walk around your house or yard if you can or walk with your partner or a friend until you feel stronger.

I wasn’t eating many calories at your stage - less than you are but my dietician was fine with it. You can only eat what you can eat.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I’m going to increase my calories as much as possible. I have a super active job and with such little energy it’s going to be very difficult to get through the day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
