5'6" - What weight/size are you?

Recommended Posts

I know this is a very specific thread, but I was wondering if anyone else is 5'6" and, if so, what weight/size you are?

Thanks for helping out...I'm just looking for some inspiration.

I am 5'6" and I am now at goal. The last time I was weighed was at my doc's office (I don't own a scale) and I weighed 142 lbs. I still wear fairly big sizes compared to some who are my size, a loose fitting size 10 pant and an XL sweater. This is because I am thick in the waist and I have broad shoulders. All of my weight was carried on my torso when I was overweight. I have always had slim arms and legs and bony hands and feet. I gained weight like my mum did. We both got fat after we hit menopause and we gained it all on our trunks. My mum used to say that she looked like a pregnant spider! And so did I! :) Too much information, eh. :Banane20:

Jennie:

I'm 5'7". I started out at 324 and I'm down to 232.5 this morning. I didn't update my ticker yet. I think I'll be happy at 160, or size 12 - whichever comes first. I started doing a modified weight watchers diet on 4/23, so in 7 1/2 months I've lost 91.5 pounds and I feel much better - physically and mentally.

I get inspired by looking at the before & after pictures. Take a look.

Good luck.

Sue

Well, I am 5'6". I started at 280 and wore a size 24/3X. Some things were getting tight, but I like my clothes loose and non restrictive. Now I am looking at Onderland any day, but not there yet. I can comfortably wear size 14W pants and I have a pair of 18 jeans. My 1X tops and sweaters fit nice and loose, and just this week I tried on some 18 blouses that actually were a little too big for today's styles. (These were old--from the 80's when things were oversized.) I do carry a lot of weight in my shoulders and upper back (not chest). I have a large frame--I wear size 11 shoes and 7 1/2 glove. (I'm a nurse, and often have to wear sterile gloves to assist with procedures.) My goal is 145, but I am hoping to be able to afford a Tummy Tuck so I may end up around 140-ish.

Hi. I'm 5'6 and I started at 224 lbs and size 16/18. I was banded on 09/01/06. My goal was 150 lbs and size 8. I have passed that and I'm now 144 lbs and a size 4/6.

I'm 5' 6" and I started at 280, size 22/24, I'm between 195 and 210 (hovering a bit lately) and I'm a 14/16. When I'm at 195 I'm a solid 14.

I'm 5'6", was 305 at my highest, was banded on Monday 12-3, and am now at 285. I was growing out of 26/28 . . . and obviously have a LONG way to go because I want to end up around 140. I can't wait to have to go to the thrift shop to find some smaller clothes!

I'm just a tad over 5'6 and I started at 316 in a size 24. I can squueeeze in a size 22 but I like 'em loose and comfy. I've only lost about 6 lbs so no difference in the pants size yet. I can't wait to be a 10. Shooot, I can't wait to be a 14!

I'm 5'5 and weigh 220. I have been this weight (give or take 8 or 9 pounds) for a year. I wear a size 20. I got my 3rd fill today and am at 2cc. and am finally feeling some restriction. Hopefully I can start losing weight now.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
