Nanagrrl3 24 Posted April 20, 2021 The medical term is called Acanthosis nigricans. I’ve had it since I was a child. I’m dark skinned but it’s still very noticeable. I’ve lost 33 pounds since surgery 7 weeks ago. Does anyone who struggles with this have any success stories? Or what should I be doing now to make sure it goes away
Maisey 260 Posted April 20, 2021 My understanding was that this is related to PCOS. I'm not sure if weight loss alone will help if PCOS is still an issue.
Soon2bFit21 109 Posted April 20, 2021 This is due to insulin resistance (sign of PCOS as well). Generally the more weight you lose, the less insulin resistant you are. Bariatric surgery also alters/improves several hormones that help improve IR.

Ukalliq 32 Posted April 28, 2021 Mine has faded, but is not completely gone (yet). Also hoping it will go away completely after more weight loss.
