Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Recommended Posts

It's only been about 3 weeks for me, but the swelling in my hands and feet has really gone down. It's inflammation from early arthritis. To my utter delight, I was able to wear my late mother's favorite ring today! I got a little teary-eyed when I realized it fit again.

(And now I am getting a little teary-eyed just typing this...sorry.)

My PCP has had the same style wooden captains chairs since the 80’s in his exam rooms. I used to have to sit on an angle or to the front edge … it was uncomfortable, but I managed.

For the first time in about 24 yrs I could fit the whole way back and sit properly in them! That was probably the biggest smile on my face moment so far.

Clothes are getting bigger, I can tell I’m loosing, but that was a big light bulb “omg” moment. I’m almost excited to go back and sit in the chair again to compare the changes. Lol.

That is so awesome, people don't know the struggle. The trauma and emotional toll it can have to not fit in a chair. or if you sit it's snugg. I personally hated social event with those flimsy plastic chairs when I sat on them I would get dizzy and hope not to break it. Now I sit on them and feel like well I guess if I break it, I can blame the cheap material.

Congratulations it is nice to see the changes in the body especially like you said swelling. I had swelling in my forearms and the legs my face it felt more than just fat I can't explain. Now It has gone down. My body feels like it's saying aahhh, deep sigh of relief, because of the weight going down, even if I did not want to believe the weight caused it, weight took a toll on my body.

These leather boots. They are "Born" boots and usually around 200 bucks. I got them at Goodwill for 8 bucks. My calf was 23.5 at my highest weight and I really couldn't get knee high boots. I had a pair of extra wide calf boots back then that I broke the zipper on with my meaty old calves! I've always had "athletic" (I used that word extremely loosely here lol) calves so even now I'm around 15.5 inches, but these are regular calf boots and I could zip them and I'm so happy! I think my biggest "aha" moment so far has between crossing my legs at the knee with little to no effort to keep them there. Used to have to have a death grip on my ankle to cross my legs at the knee and ankle and now it just happens... like it's normal and stuff! Silly I know but I always felt manly not being able to cross my legs at the knee. Now I can just do it and it's even comfortable! A little secret just between us... it makes me feel fancy! That has been absent from my life for awhile.

OMG this just made me try crossing my legs for the first time since I lost my weight. I never crossed my legs bc it was difficult & uncomfortable. Now I can!! I'm glad I saw this

I have one but it may be the opposite to a Victory.

I have a couple of very heavy armoires that I like but I can never find the correct spot for them, each time I want to move them I know how that will go, I will ask help from my husband, he will say not again, and I will start moving them myself, then he feels bad and comes and does it. This time I could not move them not even a fraction of an inch, nothing, I used to push all my weight against them and they started slidding on the floor but the trick did not work this time. It worries me, it made me feel so weak, maybe I used to have more muscle and that is gone now.

Okay, here's a weird one and an unclear "victory":

I was going through airport security and after they did the backscatter screen, the one where they look at your naked body through your clothes with X-rays, they called me aside and did a very invasive and thorough pat-down, focusing on my groin area. This has never happened to me before, save at the Kathmandu airport where I'm pretty sure everyone just gets grabbed by the crotch as part of standard procedure.

As far as I can gather, I've now lost enough weight that my panniculus looks less like a fat belly and more like a low-slung bum bag full of drugs/explosives on their machine. Hoping that as it deflates, it looks less alarming and triggers fewer groin probings.

I died laughing at your description! [emoji23]

Okay here goes...

This just happened a few minutes ago. I was sitting here reading through the forum, looked down and noticed my legs were crossed. When the heck did that happen. I'm so happy. 😁

My fingers are prettier. While typing on my phone I noticed my thumb looks thinner & longer. My brother visited for the first time in months & he said "even your hands look different" like wow, i have lady hands now lol

I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left 😂. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
