Flintstones Complete chewables is on my list of approved Vitamins and most likely what I will start with when I get my surgery done.

If it helps, these are also listed on my list:

2 Tablets of the following:

Bariatric Advantage chewable Essential Multivitamin
Bariatric Advantage Multi Chewy Bite
Centrum Chewable
Flintstones Complete Chewable

or

4 Tablets of the following:

Bariatric Fusion Complete Chewable Multivitamin

But people here have also given other suggestions. Some of which I will probably try eventually.

we were told not to take gummies.

I've always taken Centrum or the generic equivalent (CVS and Walgreens carry generics - other places probably do as well). I started with the chewables and then switched to regular tablets when I was a few months out.

A lot of people take Flintstones, but make sure to get Flintstones Complete if you go that route.

P.S. if you take a grocery store or drug store Vitamin, like the ones above, you have to take two of them every day. There are also special bariatric-specific Vitamins you can order, and with some of those you only have to take one (to meet your multivitamin requirement)

My clinic said the same thing as catwoman, no gummies. But the Flinstones complete chewables are on my list of Vitamins that are allowed.

It’s so weird how clinics vary so much. I mentioned the flintstones complete to the bariatric coordinator and she said they are absolutely not appropriate. She said that their is not research of FDA to back up a lot of Vitamins and that with our absorption issues that we need bariatric vitamins. But clearly there are veterans out here that have had labs and are doing fine so I am going to keep doing my research. I don’t skimp on my health but I don’t like to just throw money away either.

I've heard that as well (at least the part about Flintstones), but I don't say anything anymore because I've been blasted by mentioning it on forums. Evidently a lot of surgeons still recommend them. Mine still does as well, but I took Centrum from the beginning since I'd read it's a better choice if you're going with grocery store/drug store vitamins. My dietitian was fine with Centrum and did say it was a better option (although I see Flintstones Complete is still on their recommended list)

I've also read on forums that bariatric-specific vitamins are better, although so far I've had luck with Centrum (or the generic equivalent)

That is really interesting. They were on my 'recommended' list by my clinic! @catwoman7 does Centrum have a chewable? Maybe I'll switch.

I will never understand getting blasted on here. I’ve experienced it though. Just wanna say don’t kill the messenger. We are mostly all just taking advice we have read here and other places as well as from our doctors and trying to sift through and make the best choices for ourselves as best as we can in this uncharted territory. Ooh well. Guess you can’t please everyone. Do you have to add in other vitamins with the centrum to get all of your requirements?

yes they do, but I've heard they can be hard to find in some areas. The Walgreens around here carries them, though. Our CVS also carries a generic "Centrum" in a chewable form (can't remember if Walgreens has a chewable version of their generic "Centrum" or not...but they do carry the chewable form of the real Centrum (or at least ours does))

P.S. I switched over to regular tablets once I was about a year out, that's why I seem foggy on whether or not Walgreens has a chewable version of its generic

Yup. They do. I mentioned them above along with several others my office recommended.

I just asked my bariatric coordinator if I could take gummies because I tried the dissolvable tablets and the after taste was horrible! So I bought the pills from here and I gag every time I take them. I honestly have been very inconsistent and hope I can do gummies again. Btw she said I could take gummies but need to have Iron as well

I take 2 Flinstones Complete. I have also taken Centrum chewables but they have been out of stock at Walmart for several weeks now. I was told no gummy vitamins. But I was also told to take supplemental B12 and D beyond the regular Vitamins. Those are chewies. I also use a chewy Fiber supplement. My recent labs were all good.

What is the chewy fiber?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
