Dajshadenee 3 Posted April 8, 2021 So I’m in my second week post op and this liquid diet is driving me up the wall. My dr has me on the longest liquid diet and I just can’t take it anymore. I had 1 week clear liquid preop then 1 week clear liquid post op. Then 2 weeks full liquid. So April 22nd is when I’m supposed to start the puréed but when I say I absolutely HATE broth I truly mean in. I’ve tried so many and none of them are good to me. I’ve even made homemade and tried different flavors. I love Soup with chicken and noodles but just the broth tastes so disgusting to me. I really want to follow this diet but I’m ready to be on puréed. And it’s not helping that I feel so fatigued and hungry all the time. And I usually struggle with having an appetite. I caved and had a baby size amount of soupy mashed potatoes with Protein mixed in and I tolerated that completely and I didn’t feel so drained or hungry. But I feel bad about not adhering to the diet. Help! 1 1 lizonaplane and BariBarbie reacted to this

SummerTimeGirl 582 Posted April 8, 2021 (edited) Haven't had the surgery yet but I see on my list of "full liquids" they have that I can have STRAINED low fat cream Soups. Would something like that make a difference do you think? Have you tried Bone Broth or does that not matter? Are you even allowed to have those (the cream soups)? They even have blended bean soups being ok for me with my liquid portion of the diet. Are you allowed light or greek yogurts? sugar free pudding and Jello? I know every doc and diet is different but just wanted to mention the things that are allowed on mine that maybe you could ask about if you aren't allowed already. Help! omg I was about to eat something not liquid too literally I am hungry but maybe its bc the Protein Shake is clear maybe since week 2 they allow us to drink milk it might keep us full longer. I tried going to more than one ounce and my stomach does feel like uncomfortable. this is so hard to do! 1 Dajshadenee reacted to this
NiceAnkles 147 Posted April 8, 2021 Do you have a Pho place nearby? The broth they use fo their pho dishes are so delicious! I swiped a cup out of my husbands order and loved it so much.
Dajshadenee 3 Posted April 8, 2021 I can have the cream Soups. I made my own and tried store bought Bone Broth. Weirdly enough the sugar free Jello I don’t tolerate so well. It might be too sugary or have air bubble idk but everything else is cool. I think just after 3 weeks of liquid I’m over it. This has been my biggest challenge of this whole thing. I do like chicken and gnocchi Soup drained but after awhile I’m sick of it. The support from others has definitely been helpful.
NiceAnkles 147 Posted April 8, 2021 Could not stomach store bought bone broth! Even ones that were highly recommended. I did however make some kick ass Bone Broth with chicken bones/carcass using my instant pot. Can you eat sugar free popsicles? They *almost* seem like food. 2 Dajshadenee and BariBarbie reacted to this
rjan 164 Posted April 8, 2021 The liquid stage is HORRIBLE. No matter what you do, it's going to be a slog. But in the grand scheme of things, it's over pretty quickly. Just keep telling yourself it will be over soon (even if it seems like forever). When I was on full liquids, I started whisking an egg into my broth. Basically, this is what egg drop Soup is. I was also making Protein pudding with sugar free pudding and Protein Powder. Things like this have enough substance to them that they feel just a little bit more like real food. 3 BariBarbie, Suzi_the_Q and Dajshadenee reacted to this
Dajshadenee 3 Posted April 9, 2021 I haven’t tried sugar free pudding with Protein powder. I’m gonna have to try that. But the popsicles have been my go to. Thanks everyone. All this has been so helpful truly. It feels better just knowing I’m not in this alone. 1 BariBarbie reacted to this
Arabesque 7,426 Posted April 9, 2021 The change to our tastebuds make these first couple of months challenging. So many things simply taste disgusting. Even things we used to enjoy are revolting. It does pass. I ate/drank the same couple of things for a while - talk about a limited. & repetitive diet. Creamy Soups were my saviour - pumpkin, potato & chicken were the only flavours I could stand. I strained & diluted them. A friend swore by the broths in pho, wonton Soup & ramen noodles. She ate them Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Jnfinney 527 Posted April 9, 2021 If you like the cheap packaged ramen noodles, I used the flavor packets out of those and threw the noodles away. 1 ShanIAmVA reacted to this

I lived on the broth of ramen noodles. Even though it is high in sodium (salt), it was ok since everything else I was drinking/eating in the liquid stage was very low sodium. 1 ShanIAmVA reacted to this
