How much weight lost, on average, per week?

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done on 2/4. Lost weight for 3 weeks, stalled for 5 and now just recently started losing weight again. The problem I have is that it seems slower than before.

Since March 27th I have maybe lost 5 or 6 lbs. I have 2 different scales, one is a body composition scale that I picked up to see if I could get some kind of baseline on my stats. Anyway 5 lbs in 10 days doesn't seem like much compared to how fast it went in the first 3 weeks. Just wondering if that is normal expected weight loss now?

By my calculations I should be burning about a net of 2000 calories per day, which seems like I should be losing more weight than I am. Maybe I'm just impatient because I lost so much perceived ground during the ridiculously long stall.

yes - it slows down a lot after the first month or two...

I know this is a marathon. An 18 month long marathon, but I want it to go faster! :)

I just have a first goal of getting under 300lbs, something I was hoping for by June at the latest, but I don't think I can drop 39lbs in 8 weeks. Maybe? More vigorous exercise?

I'm actually afraid if I do an uptick in exercise to burn more calories without increasing any food I might stall again.

As for hunger returning, it's here and at mealtimes I'm legit stomach hungry. So I feel cheated on the not being hungry for 6+ months promise.

2000 calories is a lot. I biked a lot last summer - on some days for two hours - and burned about 600 calories on those days (if my tracker and Fitbit are correct, that is). Of course the amount of calories burned depends on so many factors, including your current weight.

you will stall occasionally throughout your journey - it just part of the process. Frustrating, but...it happens to most of us.

and yes - hunger does go away for the majority of us. Sorry yours didn't - it does make things quite a bit easier when you're not dealing with hunger.

Having actual predictable hunger has made me have to think long and hard about what I want to eat/can eat so that when I'm hungry (like now, for example), I nutritious foods to eat. Fortunately, I fill up quickly like everyone else with the sleeve, I just get hungry at predictable intervals.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
