MizzKay 36 Posted April 5, 2021 I did pre op testing today. I did chest xray, ekg and blood work. However, i had to make another appt for blood work because i had no vines available. I am so mad at that. Anyway I know people are talking about being put a liquid diet. So I thought they was going to tell me when I start. But that wasnt the case. So can somebody tell me at what stage does the liquid diet starts? 1 A1220M reacted to this
SummerTimeGirl 582 Posted April 5, 2021 I was told I will start mine 11 days before surgery. And I'm not even totally sure it will be 100% liquid or some combo of mostly liquids and a lean & green type meal once a day. Both the dietician and the lady I had my mental health evaluation with said the doc or his office will go over that with me when the time comes. Which I'm assuming will happen once all the paperwork has been submitted and the insurance approves.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 5, 2021 not all surgeons require a liquid diet. Some just want you to fast the day before the surgery. 1 SummerTimeGirl reacted to this

All I have left to do is a pre op nutrition class on 04/08. A physical on 04/14 , consents on 04/20, covid test on 04/24. But I was just wondering because I haven't heard anything about doing a liquid diet. Thanks for your response 1 SummerTimeGirl reacted to this

Thanks for your response Yeah perhaps you don't need to be on one. I know from reading here on the forum that NOT everyone is required to be on one for whatever reason(s). My doc does. Which is ok with me.

FadingIrish 12 Posted April 12, 2021 If they haven't discussed a pre op liquid diet, it probably isn't required. Surgeons are different.
