CrystalleB 0 Posted April 3, 2021 Good Evening, I am new to this site so firstly hello. Secondly I just had Gastric Sleeve surgery in March 25,2021. The pain has become fairly minimal, but sometimes I have a random stomach cramp. Sometimes it will feel like it’s a hunger pain and somethings it’s a quick sharp pain. Since I’m barely a week passed is this still normal ? I don’t want to check the internet anymore and make myself worried about a leak when I don’t have any other symptoms. I would appreciate any help. I’m the only person I know who’s had this type of surgery so this community is all I have for knowledge. Thank you for anyone whom can assist me. 😊

It’s nice to know I am not alone. 😊

It does get better once your stomach gets adjusted to the change.
chiquitatummy 339 Posted April 3, 2021 I had a few random pains and spasms during the first couple of weeks after surgery. They didn't stick around and it wasn't constant or accompanied by vomiting/uncontrolled nausea. There are a lot of potential reasons for discomfort in those first couple weeks that are (typically) not serious: incision healing, stomach acid, gas, Constipation, a stitch getting tugged, tummy inflammation, drinking too fast...and probably more that I'm not think of. All that said...If you are worried contact your program. I called my program nurse twice in the first couple weeks to get reassurance that my discomfort wasn't an indication of something serious and it was great to get reassurance from a professional. Hang in there! It gets a lot easier after the first couple weeks.

But man, everything you mentioned in the second paragraph is spot on. Getting used to not having energy and being patient because of no energy is challenging as I had started to light jog and do pretty intense lifting right before surgery. Gotta build all that endurance back up after healing. Looking forward to living healthier. 1 chiquitatummy reacted to this
