AleshiaHamblin 1 Posted April 2, 2021 I’m 4 weeks post op VSG however o don’t feel I’m losing enough weight since the preop diet and surgery I have lost c. 25lbs. I know 25 is a lot but considering I’m following all the rules, no cheating, no pop, bread, potatoes, sugar, etc. shouldn’t it be more substantial?
Shanimal 6 Posted April 2, 2021 I think it's very dependent on your starting weight and your overall diet and activity levels. I've also heard that some people are "slow losers". I've lost 27 pounds in about the same timeframe and I'm ecstatic - if I kept up this pace I will reach my goal in just a few months!
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 2, 2021 (edited) unless you're the size of someone on "My 600 lb Life", no, it shouldn't be more substantial. Most "normal" WLS patients lose about 15-25 lbs the first month, so you're on the high end of that. Of course you will always find people who lose more or less than that, but they're the exception. You are doing fine. Edited April 2, 2021 by catwoman7 1 1 lizonaplane and Creekimp13 reacted to this
gabbyd 13 Posted April 2, 2021 I’m 3 weeks post op and I feel the same way. 21lbs down. I find myself having intrusive thoughts like “will this surgery really work for me?” Also I feel like I haven’t felt full yet.

For now, measure out what you're supposed to eat and just eat that. Some of your nerves have been cut, and takes awhile for them to regenerate. Also, you're eating soft foods that go through your stomach quickly. So don't chase the "full" feeling for now - just trust the process. And yes, the surgery WILL work as long as you follow your program. 21 lbs down in three weeks is fantastic - you're well ahead of the curve.
