I am looking forward to getting off this CPAP machine!!

I love my CPAP. But I have extremely bad apnea, 102.5 episodes an hour. It has been lifesaving for me so I tolerate it. I don’t know if I will ever lose enough to get rid of it. It would be nice traveling without lugging it around.

I don’t snore. No trouble sleeping. I had to have a sleep study as part of my insurance requirements for surgery. They decided I have severe sleep apnea and have to go for the C-pap titration study tomorrow night. I’m not a happy camper.

Sorry. I feel for you. I got the CPAP right before surgery (also an insurance requirement) and got rid of it right after surgery. I was required to bring it and use it in the hospital. I brought it, but didn’t wear it the one night I was there. I hated it! I had just the one that goes under the nose, but it was still terrible. Doctor told me if I lost 10% of my body weight before surgery he expected I wouldn’t need it. I did that pre-surgery.

Thanks! I’m hoping it’ll be short lived and I’ll be able to get rid of it after surgery.

I hope so. Perhaps you could see if you could get the one that’s a cushion under your nose. There’s no way I could have tolerated a full mask!!!

Hope so! Just thinking about a full mask makes me claustrophobic!

I got mine about a month ago after sleep study was required for my surgery. I have such a hard time getting to sleep, the mask irritates my skin, I feel like I can't breathe. I'm really hoping I can get rid of it after surgery and some weight loss as well.

I did see that you are meant to take it to the hospital when you stay and I was hoping to just... not. I don't want to wear this in the hospital after surgery!

I hated my CPAP too! I would rip it off in the middle of the night so I could get to sleep! I finally had to beg them to take it back...they said if I didn't wear it more they would have to take it back and I said PLEASE DO!

Definitely take it to the hospital. You are required to have it there, especially for surgery. That said, I kept mine plugged in next to the bed but didn’t put it on. The nurses didn’t enforce it. Granted, I stayed in the orthopedic wing rather than the bariatric wing. Not sure why.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
