neesahart 1 Posted April 1, 2021 So - are we limited to tiny sips too? Had surgery yesterday. Feel pretty good. Doc says all liquids this week. Fine. But wondering about quantiies. Doesn't liquid just pass right through?Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 1, 2021 most people can only sip the first few days or weeks, but I never had a problem taking bigger drinks (I didn't chug, though - but I drank normal-sized gulps). Your stomach will tell you if you're overdoing it. 1 mil_unloaded reacted to this

Quantity changed that I could drink at a time and yes you will know if you are drinking too much at once. I feel sick for few minutes until it passes. You will learn fast. 29 minutes ago, neesahart said: So - are we limited to tiny sips too? Had surgery yesterday. Feel pretty good. Doc says all liquids this week. Fine. bufbills 316 Posted April 1, 2021 Liquids move through quickly, but until your healed, you should sip. As catwoman7 said, your stomach will tell you when to slow it down. In the beginning, I would get the hiccups when I drank too much.
mil_unloaded 80 Posted April 1, 2021 I’m 3 months out and can almost “chug” again. Chugging is different than it used to be though. I could have easily chugged a 16oz bottle of Water in 10 minutes if I were thirsty enough. Now it might take me an hour, but I can take 4-5 big gulps before my stomach goes “hey wait a second, slow down.” After surgery I never really had any difficulty drinking. To start it had to be somewhat warm or room temp, but now it’s much easier to drink the colder the water is.

I can drink water very close to what I did before. food is a different story. I can eat 3/4 a cup and that is more than it sounds like, without a problem. If I ate a cup I would probably feel sick. I start sneezing and that is time to stop eating for me. 1 mil_unloaded reacted to this

Thanks...You ever get on the scale knowing you have lost weight only to find you are a pound heavier or no weight loss? Man that is frustrating!

Man that is frustrating! Yes. All the time. I stall for a week or so and lose for 4 to 7 days. Usually a pound a day. It's been like this since around three weeks out. You'll get to a point where you will know it will continue to work, and then it becomes less frustrating.

Yeah that is pretty accurate for me as well. Stall...lose a pound a day and stall again.
neesahart 1 Posted April 1, 2021 Thanks everyone. Was so glad to find this forum. Am very happy with my band decision - but every other forum I found is SO negative and judemental. Jaelzion 1,127 Posted April 1, 2021 I was one of those who had to carefully sip in the beginning. But as everyone said, your body will let you know if you need to slow down (LOUDLY) in my case. Two years out from my surgery I can chug about two swallows now, LOL.
