I think this show maybe responsible. Before WLS I didn’t know I qualified/insurance would cover it because I wasn’t 600+ lbs 😔

yea - I thought everyone who got this was the size of the people on that show. I thought I'd be the smallest person in my classes. Nope. I was the biggest.

I also led one of the classes that the pre-ops at my clinic had to go through - did it monthly for three years (until COVID hit). I NEVER saw anyone the size of the people on that show. Everyone appeared to weigh in the 200s and 300s (mostly 200s). Occasionally there was one who might have been in the low 400s. But that's it. And actually, there are surgeons who won't operate on people who have a BMI higher than 60 - and hardly any will operate on people the size of the ones on My 600 lb Life - which is why they have to go to surgeons like Dr. Now who specialize in high-risk bariatric surgery. So I think the show gives people unrealistic perceptions.

I watch this show, but I really prefer the British show “Fat Doctor”. Not as exploitive and more low key. I watch episodes on YouTube

Me too on both counts!

I watch these shows and love to see the outcome but why is it soon as they're on there way to see Dr Now who I think is brilliant do they have to stop at the fast food restaurants within an hour that's the bit what does my head in

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
