nessie 15 Posted March 25, 2021 Did anyone struggle with, I don't know if it's body dysmorphia or what, but right after surgery? I'm so fearful that this also won't work for me, that I can see how not eating can be tempting. Just so afraid it won't work. 1 SummerTimeGirl reacted to this

I have lost 90 lbs in the last 4 months and I have definitely struggled with how I look in a mirror and the size of clothes that I wear. The head games with food are definitely still real and have been quite a struggle for me. I work with a therapist about this though and that has helped. For the first time that I can remember, I actually feel full and know when I have eaten too much. This surgery has changed the way that I taste and view food as well. If I try food that doesn't taste good, I don't give it a second chance and throw it out. I didn't do that previously. 1 nessie reacted to this
kunkelgw 22 Posted March 25, 2021 I totally agree with mswillis5. I had the fears in the beginning also . I have lost 71 pounds thus far and struggle with the person I see in the mirror. My struggle is not believing what I see. I try to reward myself with a new piece of clothing and feel when I am shopping that it just looks to small for me and am surprised when it fits!. My therapist did warn me that my head will play games with me for awhile. All in all, I am so happy that I made the choice to have a VGS. I cannot look back at the place I was prior to all of this. Trust the journey. Follow the dietary instructions and really try not to cheat. There are medical reasons as to why you need to eat and what you should eat and when. You have this and there are so many people here that will support you. Be sure to know who the people are in your life that are your supports also. That was also one of my biggest aids. 1 nessie reacted to this
