Tomorrow I will be 12 weeks post op gastric sleeve and I've only lost 40 lbs. I don't eat what I'm not supposed to, so I don't understand why I'm not loosing as fast. My appointment with Dr. is in April, and at the 2 week appointment he said I should be around 60lb loss by April. I will admit that exercising is my biggest struggle. I feel so frustrated

40lbs in 12 weeks is an awesome effort, how much would you have lost if you hadn't had surgery 🙂

You may have had a couple of mini stalls. Stay on point, keep at it, and maybe if you feel like you are too sedentary you could get out for a 15 minute walk each day in the morning ? It's a beautiful time of day, fresh air, new start, you don't know what's coming in the day. You know what, I'm going to do exactly that, starting tomorrow morning!!

Thanks 🙂

You're right! I most likely wouldn't have lost the weight if I hadn't had surgery. Now that the weather is getting nicer I am going to start on afternoon walks. I wanted to join the gym close to my house but I hate contracts and you have to sign a 12 month one. May sound like an excuse but for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck it's a legit concern haha.

I just checked and I'd lost 39.6 lbs at the three-month mark - so the same as you. And I went on to lose over 200 lbs.

people lose at all different rates due to a myriad of factors - most of which you have little to no control over (e.g., age, gender, genetics, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery). The two factors you DO have control over is how closely you follow your program and your activity level. If you do well with those two, then that's all you can. If you're committed, you WILL lose the weight, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser from the get-go, but I still ended up losing all of my excess weight.

Please do not beat yourself up over "how much" weight you have lost...I did the same thing

Losing very slowly so 1 year out I have lost 53lbs...

when I really think about everything I have been thorough I am very happy with only 53lbs.

Everyone is different. If there is ANYTHING I have learned is:

EVERYONE is Different

It will happen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
