Rosie_flips 19 Posted March 23, 2021 I started 7 days of pre-op Optifast (which is a liquid diet) today. Which means I’m 9 days away from sleeve surgery! I’m lucky in that I also get to eat 2 cups of veggies (and broth/sugar free liquids) per day too. How is everyone else doing in their first few days? Any tricks or tips or insights to share? My first is that Optifast or vanilla Protein Powder blended with warm (but not boiling) Rooibos Chai tea is genuinely DELICIOUS. I had a chai latte and it was so good. My second is that even being in the kitchen is really hard. I’m avoiding it unless I have a specific task. And then I’m using self-talk (literally out loud!) to say, “yeah. It’s hard being in here. Just finish up and move out, you can manage” when I am in there. I’d love to hear what’s working (or not working) for other people.
Qamilian1 32 Posted March 23, 2021 Today is day four post-op sleeve. Just starting to feel a little better. I'm looking forward to advancing to full liquids in three days.
Rosie_flips 19 Posted March 23, 2021 I’m glad you’re starting to feel a little better! Are you finding it easier to swallow now?
Orinskye 165 Posted March 23, 2021 My pre op diet is not as bad. I am having my surgery on the 24th and I only need two days of liquids before hand. to those people who had weeks of liquid diet pre surgery: I bow down to you. I’m on day ONE and I’m so fricken hungry. today I had: a shake for Breakfast. A shake for lunch. A shake for dinner. And I had some broth in there as a “snack”. I don’t know if anyone else is this way, but when I get hungry and my stomach is empty I get super nauseous and sick to my stomach. Thank goodness I only have one more day of the pre op diet. angieti93 1 Posted March 23, 2021 I’m on day 5 of my 1 week pre op diet. The first 3 days went well but now I feel hungrier. I try to eat steamed veggies or Jello to take away the feeling. It is also a lot of self-talk.

Yes!! The queasiness is so real! Sometimes drinking Water helps me. But it’s a lousy feeling.

During the day it's easier to swollow but at night it's still hard. Getting easier each night though.
