Weight loss pace

Recommended Posts

I’ve lost 33 pounds in my first two months lost bypass. I’m pretty happy with this although for some reason I thought it would be faster. The doctor said it’s really going to slow down - I didn’t realize this. Any thoughts or comments? I have 65 pounds to go!

66 lbs in two months is excellent - and yes, weight loss slows down quite a bit after the first month or two.

Oh it was 33 in two months which is good... does it slow down and then rev up at any point?

whoops - sorry - I must have missed something. Mine never revved up after the first couple of months. I lost about 10-12 lbs a month from about months 2-6, then it was down to about 5-8 lbs a month during months 6-12. After a year, it was slow as molasses, although I didn't stop losing weight until about month 20.

Your weight loss is probably the norm. I need to get the pound a day loss out of my head (that’s what I was told) and be ok that this isn’t a sprint.

You are doing great!!! It's fast in the beginning, then tapers off a little, but I found the average to be a little over 10lbs per month. Keep doing what you are doing!

Good luck!!!

I have lost 24 lbs in 3 weeks since surgery. I think it’s too fast, but I am doing what I’m told to the letter. I get in 60 to 80 of Protein every day, all of my Water, and I’m staying around 600 cal. Not even a full month post op yet!! 😬

Seems to be averaging 10 a month and I guess that is perfect!

Are you doing any exercise or walking? I am trying to decide if I should start doing my aerobic walking youtube videos yet. I am exactly 7 days post op today. My class notebook says to add moderate walking in. For 15 minutes per day in the 2nd week. I want to start but I am also still having pain in my abdomen so I am unsure what to do.

Nope! Not yet. Very slow last 2 weeks so probably a “stall” - But I just keep following my plan and not really worrying about the scale. I am five weeks postop now and I have lost 41 pounds since the preop meal prepBut I just keep following my plan and not really worrying about the scale. I have only been doing some very light walking. On my follow up this week which was five weeks they said I could start doing some weights. And just walk 30 minutes a day. Within the first two weeks I tried to walk and I would literally have to stop because I would get a sharp pain in my left flank abdomen that would bring me to my knees. It was my body telling me to chill out I was doing too much!! 😄 That pain disappeared by week three and I’ve been fine ever since

I must be the only one that doesn’t want really fast weight loss. I want to try and limit malnutrition and loose skin 😩

At seven days post op I wouldn't be doing aerobic walking videos yet. Give yourself a bit of time to heal.

If you want to walk now, walk laps of the house or garden (or the streets if not in lockdown) at a low to moderate pace, at this point in time think low impact and no jarring of the body.

I agree with the others. Very light walking for now. I was cleared to do most other exercises (except for weights) at four weeks out (I had to wait eight weeks to do weights)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
