I just had VSG 3/12 and had to stay at a family member’s house since I was unable to drive myself around. These last few days have been filled with temptations!!!! She’s brought chicken nuggets/fries, chipotle, Alfredo/garlic bread, pizza, cinnamon fried donuts, etc. home. And of course I’ve just been creeping around the kitchen staring at all of it like a chicken nugget won’t hurt... even though I’m only 4 days post op and I can only get down popsicles and ice chips. I starve every single day all day and it’s been trying times. I would never jeopardize my weight loss and health for a darn chicken nugget, but it’s definitely a mind game. I feel like I’m in an episode of jigsaw. I definitely need to go home where the only thing I have in the kitchen is Protein Powder and pudding. How did you guys get through trying times and temptations?? What did you tell yourself?

Well first of all, your family member isn't be too considerate knowing what you have just gone through. I understand that maybe that is what they are used of eating, but if your only there temporary, then maybe try to at least hide it from you?

When I was first out, I was so sick, I couldn't even drink Water. When my hubby cooked something, the smell bothered me so much, I had to go outside. I suppose I was lucky in that sense.

Now I am close to 7 months out, and hubby still eats foods that I can not. The other night, while watching tv, he was munching on some caramel popcorn, (one of my favs). I was like really, your just gonna sit there and eat this in front of me, knowing that I can't eat it. I had to settle for some raw walnuts, to satisfy my munchies.

That being said, I don't expect hubby to not eat what he wants, can, and will in front of me. Most things don't bother me, but certain things do. I just try to eat something healthy instead. It sucks sometimes, but I get over it, knowing that if I eat what he is eating, that I would get sick.

I was on my presurgical diet...when I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 8 people. OMG....that was the hardest day. Wanted so badly to eat everything and faithfully drank my shakes....ugh.

Pinkbunny...you are getting the same kind of trial by fire over there with all that junk food. Holy cow that's brutal.

Get home as soon as you can!

On the plus side? If you can survive this challenge, you know you're made of strong stuff and can handle anything that comes at you. Good will power, girl. Stay strong!

I'm rooting for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
