I adore fast food for the fast salads!

I'm older so my priorities may be different. I have enough helath problems that I really want to try to de-age a bit through my diet. I'm interested in eating unprocessed healthy food whenever I can. That part is not so much about losing weight as it is about using the "will power" of the band to be able to stick to healthy eating better than I ever have. It's sort of my last chance at my age and health status. For example, with the band, I am no longer testing as diabetic....but artificial sweetener raises blood sugar as much as sugar does, so I try to stay away except with my morning Protein shake. Just seems like the thing I need to do for me. And I want my cholesterol low so I don't do burgers...but that wasn't as much a choice as a loss of interest since I was banded..... Stuff like that......

i agree with most here... diet ... ick die-t.

if i diet i fail. i eat what i want pretty much, just much much less.

last time i was on a diet (atkins-esque) i lost 10 pounds in 1 week, but the following 10 weeks my weight went up and down the same 5 pounds.

i have lost my taste for fast food pretty much completely. now the McD's has the McRib back (i know, i know) i did get one. i literally had 2-3 bites, was satisfied and pitched the rest. yup, it's a "waste of money" but i'd rather waste the money than have it end up on MY waist...

I find that I think that I want something like a cheeseburger but when I get it, I end up wasting it because like someone else said, the effort to chew it just becomes too much. I make sure that I count my calorie intake so that way if I do splurge then I am able to balance it and not go over. The key is definitely balance. It is weird, I haven't had my first fill and the weight is coming off, I had to adapt to a few changes but none that put me in misery. I have more energy than I thought possible so that in itself motivates me to stay on the right track.

I am a few months over a month post op and have no had fast food in over 2 months and I dont even have the urge to even though i can eat solid foods. I was a HUGE fast food person and now I realize that I can live with out it. something else that I have not had is a snack. I am very shocked by this but since being banded I have had my 3 small meals and been satisfied all day!!! this has thrilled me beyond words. I loved to snack on every and anything before and I thought that would be the hardest step to over come but so far it has been the easiest. The hardest part has been picking foods that i acutally want to eat. Nothing seems to be appealing to me any more.

good luck to everyone on there journey...I love seeing the results of a new me everyday!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
