ShoppGirl 5,023 Posted March 14, 2021 I am five days post op and I have been having a difficult time getting my fluids in. I am just not thirsty so I forget to drink and then of course when I do remember it’s a slow and gradual process. I thought about setting alarms but it would be like all day. Does this get better? Jen2020MGB 26 Posted March 14, 2021 I was the same, it got better! Someone on here gave me the suggestion of using an egg cup or shot glass for fluids, and setting a phone alarm to go off every ten minutes to remind me to drink. I am pleased to say I can now drink reasonably normally, it really does get better, but feels a bit grim at the time. 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this

Hop_Scotch 1,632 Posted March 14, 2021 Get a water bottle and keep it around you all day, sip all day from it.
RickM 1,752 Posted March 14, 2021 One common suggestion is to fill a 1 oz shot glass or medicine cup and sip one every five minutes; if you can do more than that, that's great. Yes, it does get better, quicker for some than for others. But you have to do it as dehydration will get you put back into the hospital quicker than just about anything else in this phase. 1 ShoppGirl reacted to this
