Mark P3 29 Posted March 14, 2021 Hello friends. My name is Mark, 35 years old and am two weeks out from surgery. I’m really at peace with my decision to get WLS. I know it’s going to suck for a while but it will hopefully all be worth it. I’m not nervous about the procedure or what’s going to happen after I’m truly nervous because I’ve never been “skinny” or even remotely close. I was always the chubby kid ever since I can remember. I was the fat friend. Now, I’m two weeks out and know that if all goes well, I’ll be healthy. Anyone else have this same fear/anxiety? If so how do you cope with that and everyone now complementing you for your weight. Thanks all! Mark
catwoman7 11,220 Posted March 14, 2021 first, unfortunately, there are far more patients who never make it to goal than there are those who become "too skinny". In fact, research has shown that only 10-15% of patients make it to a normal BMI, let alone skinny. secondly, you do have control over this. If you find yourself losing too much weight, you can always increase your calories.
XtinaDoesIt 202 Posted March 14, 2021 (edited) Hi Mark! Congrats on your surgery! There is a post here about other benefits to weight loss surgery besides weight loss that I think you should read through. It might help your anxiety about being smaller. One of the only negative things I see in this forums is changed relationships with friends and family. If you have the support you need, I see only great things in your future!
