Hi all. I came home a few hours after my procedure today, but those of you staying overnight, pack a heating pad!! I never get gas pains from laparoscopic surgery but this one was pretty intense with abdomen, sternum, and back pains from the gas. The heating pad helps to break that up. Just a tip for ya’ll. Thanks.

Don't they give you anything for the gas?

They do, but for me it was some next level gas pains, interestingly enough everyone in recovery room was dealing with it so I wonder if the OR team over inflated for the day? lol

OMG! I just about spit my Water out. I am scheduled for the 30th. Should I ask for less tire pressure? lol

I’m scheduled for my surgery on Monday, April 12th. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous as hell. I’m a huge emetophobe (fear of vomiting), and although I’ve mastered only eating tiny bites every few minutes, I’m worried that my life is going to be ruled by nausea. My mother had a gastric bypass ten years ago, and watching her struggle with her diet and symptoms has definitely scarred me. To be honest, she’s still an overweight person in a thin person’s body. She eats candy several times a day, and is constantly complaining about feeling run down and sick to her stomach. If anything, she’s shown me how NOT to act after my surgery. Still, I’m worried. The nutritionist even said that “nausea will be your new ‘feeling full.’” Have you guys found this is the case? Any additional advice would be awesome. Thanks in advance. ❤️

I have not vomited today at all. Also, feeling nauseous has been pretty mild. I know everyone is different, but that has been my day so far. The stomach cramps and gas pains have been the most uncomfortable so far. I use peppermint oil on my wrist and when I feel a bit sick to my stomach I take a small whiff and it helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
