@mindy81 that is so hard! I’ve seen so many different pre-op diets - ranging from a day to 5-6 weeks. It’s wild!

My surgery is 4/15, I start liquid diet on the 5th and liquids for ten days after surgery. I asked not even pudding ? Doctor doesn't have a sense of humor. lol

My dietitian told to add low fat milk to yogurt to thin it out. I also found Kroger brand carbmaster Protein smoothies that are pretty good, they're low cal, low fat, low sugar, low carb and have 12 grams of protein. Of course, always go by what YOUR surgeon tells you.

I'm scheduled for bypass on 4/13. Started the liquid diet today. So far so good, although I have a headache due to no caffeine. But that will subside, I'm sure.

This is a revision for me. Got the band in 2009, and did really well, but it slipped about 5 years ago and had to be removed. Of course, the weight is all coming back. Was hoping for the sleeve, but I have a hernia, so my surgeon says bypass is the way to go. So, this is what I need to do to be healthy.

Headache is also just a normal side effect of the diet - I had a persistent one for 3 days and I’m not a caffeine drinker. It went away yesterday, day 4, and I had a lot more energy

@WanderingHeart I am allergic to the pre-surgery soap, so I’ve told to get antibacterial Dial soap and use that night before and morning after.

Hi everyone, sorry, this might be a TMI question. For those of you who have started the pre-op diet, is Constipation an issue for you? I have not had a BM in the past few days. It does not feel like regular constipation because I'm not having any bloating or pain or anything unpleasant. I just know that I have not had a BM. And my pre-op diet includes some actual food. I can have one healthy meal for dinner. I have one Protein Shake for Breakfast and one for lunch. Then a meal for dinner. I had a cup of the Smooth Move tea last night in Hope's that this morning I would have a BM, but nope, nothing. Hmmm. I've read about this happening after surgery and I'm mentally ready for that, but I did not read anything about it happening before surgery. Any thoughts?

My pre-op diet was similar and I only went like every other day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
