Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Well I had my GS on April 6th. Surgery weight 118kg (260lbs) and post op 6 months I am 98kg (216lbs). I walk a lot, ride my bike, swim but my stalls are often and long. Still happy that I have lost weight but frusterated when I compare with all you guys. What could be the issue? Is there anyone else out there 👀

I had my surgery March 9th and post surgery have lost only 40 pounds (55 including pre op). I have been stalled for about a month and am worried that I will not lose anymore. Fingers crossed the stall will break.

My surgery date was also April 6th. Are you tracking calories by chance, logging your food, etc? Also, for me I see progress when I’m being good with my Water intake.

I had surgery March 12th and have only lost 43 pounds. I’ve been stalled since the end of July and hope I can finally reach a 50 lb loss or more for the holidays 😩.

My stall broke and I dropped three pounds right away. Hopefully yours will too.

I know you might not have lost a lot of weight but how do you feel? Everyone always asks how much weight have l lost. I don't weigh myself regularly my surgery was on April 15th but I went from 11 meds to 4 meds, I can walk my dog at the park without getting out of breath after a few steps. My A1C is almost normal. You have to not stress the actual weight loss but the good things that come with the surgery. Hang in there.

I had VSG 04/26. I’m about 53 lb down since surgery and 63 lb down including preop loss. I get down on myself sometimes too. My PCP and surgeon reassure me I’m doing great though. Old clothes are starting to fit, my measurements are trending down, my labs are improving, I’ve come off a bunch of my meds, I went on vacation and walked and walked without needing a break. I find it important to focus on the other things when I can, but know it’s still difficult. Just know you’re not alone. It’s easy to compare yourself to people who lose a ton so quickly after surgery- partly because they’re the more vocal people usually.

Another thing my surgeon and PCP emphasize to me is- I started at 246 lbs. That’s not as high as many who have the surgery, and often those who start higher lose faster. I also have PCOS, insulin resistance, and Hashimoto’s. So they tell me especially considering all of that- I may not lose so quickly because it’s still going to be harder for me vs someone without those issues.

I've experienced a stall week here and there, but trust the process! There's pretty much nothing I can't eat (except for large quantities of course) and go to the gym regularly 3-4 times a week to do cardio and weight lifting.

Definitely need to continue working on my Water and Protein intake as I believe I may not be taking enough of either. I was an avid gym goer prior to surgery and despite the fluff, could tell muscle mass came easier prior to surgery (reduced calorie/protein intake) I may start suppleming with Protein Shake again to see if I notice a difference.

I've been taking PatchAid Multivitamin Patches since pretty much the beginning. I've felt great so far and haven't experienced any ill/deficiency feeling/fatigue from it. My first post op isn't until 6months out, so in 2 months or so I'll finally see what my labs come out like.

My next immediate goal is to breach the 100lb weight loss and and to increase water/protein to hopefully see improved gym gains.

Happy November! It's been a while since I checked in since I missed our 6 month check in. Rolling into fall was hectic at work for me and I was exhausted at home afterwards. But, I won't miss Month 7.

Happy Surgerversary to my fellow Sleevers and my April 6 surgery twins. I think there are 4 of us on here.

I'm doing good overall. I never had a true goal weight, but I am 20 pounds lower that what the dietitian thought I might be able to lose, but that was a very brief comment made during pre-OP appts. My focus was health not a specific number on the scale. But, I will share that I do weigh daily on my scale every morning just to see what's happening. Emotionally this is not taxing for me. I do not recommend that for people who had a specific goal weight number and are distressed by the scale. I have even more uplifting milestones than what a scale can offer me. Like I need to get my ring resized before it falls off in public somewhere. Never had to do that so I've been procrastinating on figuring out what I need to do for that. But, I get its super easy. Lol. Last weekend I had to gut my closet of my entire fall and winter attire. The prior week was cold and I didn't have any pants at all that fit. The closet is still a mess as I toss sweaters, baggy Jean's, etc. Shopping during the summer was fun and I loved it. But, I dont like cold or winter, so I procrastinated. Shoes are lose as well so I need some winter shoes. I kind of view winter clothes as more expensive than summer, another reason I procrastinated. I'm grateful for sure, just not thrilled about the expense for a season I don't enjoy. So, those are non-scale victories.

I'm doing ok food wise, BUT I noticed in October that my restriction is less. Oh, that scares me. I don't want that at just 6-7 months. I also had grazing episodes in October. That scared me even more. I don't eat off plan. My grazing was with fruits, veggies, cheese sticks, and almonds. But, still, it scares me. I haven't cheated in terms of sugar, carbs, soda, etc. I'm proud of myself for that, but dont want less restriction or grazing urges. Also, Water intake declined at work last month due to mainly distractions being busy and honestly not having any thirst that even triggered a thought to drink anything. I still only drink water. No juices or soda, plus I'm not a coffee or tea drinker so I'm just water. I try to make up when I get home, but I know that's not good.

I'm at a point that I just want to maintain my current weight orsize. I literally just stepped on the scale before typing this sentence. I'm only .6 ounces from an even weight that I can live with. If I dip maybe 2 pounds down, I'm good. I don't want to be tiny. I'm purposely not sharing a number because I dont want to trigger anyone. Monday night I opened a plastic totem of clothes that has clothes from like 10 years ago when I was smaller. Everything except two items fit. It was an awesome Monday night. The two things that did not fit were too big. I'm good here. I'm happy to go down maybe two more because I expect maybe a 3-5 pound fluctuation during maintenance so I want some wiggle room.

What I'm not doing good at all? I'm not weight training or strength training. Ugh! Walking, i love. But, i just haven't done what I'm supposed to do with this area. I know i need to but i just get no pleasure from the thought of that weight stuff. Help!

Man, long message. I wish all the best to everyone. Would love to hear from folks. Please dont compare your journey to anyone else.

If you are a newbie here to the WLS journey, please know that it gets easier around Month 2 post surgery. The first few days will certainly be a challenge. You just had surgery. The first month will be a different experience for you than life before surgery. But as you get into your flow past Month 2, it's not that bad. For me, it's not bad at all. I don't miss the bad stuff I ate. I don't feel like I'm suffering in life. I'm not food deprived. I love having restriction. I don't have any longterm medical issues from the sleeve. You will read a range of horror stories and pleasant stories. Experiences fall on a huge continuum. My experience is just mine. Your experience will be your experience. Be clear about why you are doing this. It is not an easy fix at all. It takes commitment and clarity.

Hello, glad to hear you are doing so well. My sleeve was 4/15 I too am doing as well as you in fact we sound so much alike I am finding myself able to eat more which is definitely scary I seem to graze more than I eat meals, but dr said it was OK as long as I eat the right things. I finally hit Wonderland I don't weight myself much at all I go by my clothes and my accomplishments like A1c down from 9 to 6. And pills I was on I don't have to take anymore. I walk the park 4 days a week something I couldn't do before. I have No regrets about the surgery at all. I am still losing hair which is frustrating but hopefully dr said it would stop about now so fingers crossed. Anyway, sorry mine is a long post too. Hang in there all newbies it does get easier down the line. Take Care all.

Congrats on reaching Wonderland! I can relate to the Hair loss issue. It started later than expected for me. I thought I had dodged that bullet, but nope. Shockingly I wasn't as mad about it as I thought I would be, but I'm not thrilled. Hoping it stops soon also.

When you graze, do you feel full? What helps you stop grazing. I'm scared so I posted a question about that today. I want to stop. I had not grazed during this entire process. I don't want a bad habit like that to sabotage all this hard work. My grazing is in addition to meals so it's too much food intake. Although the scale shows me fluctuating in a one pound range.

Also, congrats on your A1C levels and reducing medicine! Wooho! Feels great doesn't it!

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
