newyorklady20 97 Posted March 11, 2021 I"m starting mine on the 16th also! My sleeve surgery date is the 30th! I don't have any real advice yet obviously, but I am going to go shopping this weekend to get a bunch of Premier Protein, a variety of broths and some Jello. It seems like that is going to be the extent of it! I'm so so so nervous but so excited to be getting closer!
HeatherE 202 Posted March 11, 2021 I’m on day 4 of the pre-op liquid diet. I don’t want to scare you, but to manage your expectations, know it’s hard. I have two Premier Protein shakes a day (sometimes I mix two flavors for variety). Jello I got tons of variety, all sugar free of course. I have 10 calorie Jello brand, 5 calorie snack Pack, and 5 calorie Winky (40 minute trip to Walmart to find these). The nice thing about snack pack is you don’t have to store them in the fridge. I bought a case of them and put them in the fridge as needed. Winky has several flavors in each package which I like. Sugar free popsicles. Broth... lots of flavors! Low sodium chicken, vegetable, Trader Joe’s Miso Ginger (my favorite), Pho (tasted terrible but makes me nauseous and less hungry) Bone Broth: Swanson sipping broths are fantastic! They are easy to drink from their own package and how I get additional Protein. They have lemon rosemary, Chinese 5 Spice, tumerick, etc. It’s a nice break from all of the sweets. Highly recommend. Yesterday when I was freaking out about being hungry the nutritionist suggested eating ice chips. I blended my Protein Shake with ice once so that I could eat it with a spoon like ice cream. That was more filling. But, then I had an idea... snow cones!!! I have a snow cone maker for shaved ice. I also have zero calorie, sugar free snow cone syrups which the nutritionist approved, I was in heaven!!!! im not a fan of Crystal Light, but that’s another option. Good luck!!! 2 ShaNamasate and newyorklady20 reacted to this
Jnfinney 527 Posted March 11, 2021 I am on day 11 of my pre-op diet. It has been tough for sure. My recommendations are to get a variety of Protein Shake flavors, depending on what you like. Also get some savory options; I am SOOO tired of sweet things so broth has really helped. I'm also allowed to have Tomato juice, so I have a serving of that everyday. I would say I mostly live on actual liquids - I eat about 1 serving of Jello a day and I don't really eat many popsicles (mostly because I'm tired of everything sweet). I would also recommend getting some unflavored Protein Powder to add to your broth. I use GENEPRO. I also haven't minded the Unjury chicken Soup flavor. 2 newyorklady20 and ShaNamasate reacted to this

During the liver shrinking diet I ate ALOT if pickles because they were allowed unlimited and during the two day liquid diet I had Protein Shakes and found that they actually filled me up. I did feel like I wanted to chew so I had the allowed Jello for each meal or a fudge sickle which I was also allowed three of each day. All in all it wasn’t too bad. I expected to be starving but I was not at all. I know I got far more anxious than necessary about the pre op diet as if you just do you shake and then do something to distract yourself I know I felt full enough like I had consumed a meal. victoriaciminelli111 43 Posted March 11, 2021 The pre-op liquid diet wasn't so bad for me it was the post-op liquid diet and all the mental hunger where I struggled and I was on a liquid diet for 5 weeks total. Most people are on it for two to three weeks. But my surgeon was very strict
Jnfinney 527 Posted March 11, 2021 @victoriaciminelli111 I am actually really scared to be on liquids for another 2 weeks after surgery because I'm already so over it. I honestly just miss having anything solid at a meal time... I am actually counting down the days until I can have pureed food at this point. I would eat the most bland, unappetizing foods just to have something solid if I could.
victoriaciminelli111 43 Posted March 11, 2021 Are you drinking the Premier Protein shakes? Sometimes you can freeze those and they're almost like ice cream and they technically are still liquid 1 HeatherE reacted to this

victoriaciminelli111 43 Posted March 12, 2021 For me it helped to freeze the shakes because it felt like icecream. Especially the chocolate or strawberry ones.
