Sweet Mother of God. I do believe I am having a full fledged dumping episode. I have cold sweats, awful stomach cramps, and I am very uncomfortable. How long does it last?? I haven't been able to use the bathroom or throw up. Do papaya enzymes work? I'm desperate. 😫

sounds like it. A lot of people seem to think every time they throw up that is "dumping", but it's not - what you described sounds like the real thing. I've never dumped, but I think it can go on for quite awhile. I don't think papaya enzymes would work for dumping - I think people use them when there's a piece of meat or something stuck. You may just have to wait it out. It WILL stop.

I had dumping a few times. Mine was due to eating too much sugar, and eating one too many bites of food. I also got the sweats, cramps, and had to lie down because I felt dizzy/lightheaded. Try drinking some peppermint tea, or eating an Altoids. It worked for me. I also laid on my left side in the fetal position.

I'm so sorry you got sick. I hope it passed fast. That sounds just awful.

Horrible admission...

I clicked on this post because I thought it said "dumpling" and I was like....someone has a healthy dumpling recipe? Do tell! Yep...food addict till the end. Oye.

Please feel better.

Hope you are doing better today? I ended up in the ER with dumping once. Thankfully I haven't had such a severe attack since. Sadly, it can last a long time. Mine was about 12 hours of pain. If you can find what triggered it, avoid that food for a while and try it again in a couple months. My ER visit was New Years Eve/Day and now I can have the food that made me sick. Other's I had that day just bring back the memory and I can't even stomach them though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
