MizzKay 36 Posted March 9, 2021 Wow I was feeling excited about the smooth sailing way the process has been so far...until I get home from work and go through mail. So I received a letter from Cigna stating they need more information, to determine if surgery is medically necessary. Should I be worried? I mean I do have a bmi if 45 and pcos. Has thus happened to anyone?...if so did you finally get approved?
toodlerue 455 Posted March 9, 2021 I had surgery because of medical reasons not related to a high BMI & my daughter had surgery because she had a high BMI. Neither of us had any problems with Cigna as long as we did what they wanted us to do. That was in 2018. I have found that some coverage for other things has changed since 2121 started so who really knows.
BostonRiley 2 Posted March 10, 2021 I have Cigna and received the same letter. I called my doctor’s office to inquire about what type of information Cigna needed. After 2 weeks I called Cigna again only to be told that my doctors office still hadn’t resubmitted any paperwork. Once I got that taken care of Cigna told me that it would be 5 business days for them to make a decision. I called Cigna every single day looking for an answer. On the 5th day I was told that they technically had 30 days to decide as my case wasn’t an emergency. At that point I told myself that whatever was going to be would be. I just kept living my life and tried to put it out of my mind. Wouldn’t you know exactly 30 days from when my paperwork was first submitted is when I was approved. Don’t let this notice from Cigna change how you’re feeling, etc!!
