HealthyLifeStyle 351 Posted March 8, 2021 I am so happy that my doctors office FINALLY told me that I can count my Protein Shakes as liquid. I am just past 6 months, and all along they kept telling me to count it as a snack, or a replacement meal. I have been having such a hard time getting in all the liquid, plus the shakes, plus the food. This alleviates some of the pressure.

Body Fortress 40G 200 Cal. I put a scoop of collgen Protein in one and scoop of whey protein in the 2nd one, Add crushed ice and blend. Taste like a milk shake to me. Delish! Changes4Life 8 Posted March 9, 2021 That IS really helpful to count it as such. What types of Protein Drink do you enjoy? I always like learning about new options!
Arabesque 7,442 Posted March 9, 2021 Really? They said not to count them as part of your Fluid intake? I was told from day one that any liquid can be be counted so Soups (liquid part only), broths, Protein Shakes, drinking yogurt, tea, milk, etc. (My father had kidney issues & he was told any liquid counted as part of your daily recommended fluid intake regardless of the form they took even high Water content fruit like oranges, watermelon, etc. counted.) Another example of different plans, requirements & expectations from different doctors. No wonder we get confused sometimes.

Some of them actually made me sick.

It is very confusing. I just call my docs office & keep asking questions. 1 Arabesque reacted to this

It seems like the USA is very strict compared to other countries.
PolkSDA 116 Posted March 9, 2021 I was told from day 1 that Protein Shakes are included in the liquid goal. As far as the prefab 11-oz-in-a-cardboard-carton Protein shakes, it's extremely YMMV. It's actually more texture than taste for me. Worst brands for me: Muscle Milk (lumpy and thick) Pure Protein (maybe I got a bad batch, but they were clotted even after shaking, made me retch) Quest Best brands for me: Equate (Wal-Mart; cheapest and surprisingly good) Atkins (only 15g of protein per 160 cals unlike the others which are all 25-30g protein, but by far the best tasting, especially the mocha latte flavor)
Layken 7 Posted March 9, 2021 My favorite pre-made Protein Shake so far has been Premier Protein. I really like the Caramel, Strawberries & Cream, and the new Peanut Butter chocolate. For powders, I've been using Bowmar Nutrition. They have TONS of flavors and I've really liked each one I tried. Question for anyone: are you guys counting your Protein Shakes as part of your caloric intake with tracking apps? I'm about 7 months out now and am focusing now more on calorie intake to try and get over these stalls 😶

I also have had a difficult time with Protein Drinks to find the right kind. I can't even stand the smell of some. Thanks for giving me another to try! vmarie1020 0 Posted March 30, 2021 I couldn't stand the taste of Protein shakes/powders. Until i bought the unflavoured GENEPRO 30g protein per scoop. You can mix it in anything. I usually mix it with 20oz of h20 and 1 packet of crystal light. That way i get my h20 and my protein in. By far the best way to get my protein in.Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app
