aquastars 0 Posted March 6, 2021 I'm pre-op and still not 100% about actually getting the surgery. This post might be a mess.1.My dietician is saying because I am young (26) I should get the sleeve because there are less complications but I already have heartburn. I did a barium swallow and she says I don't have reflux but do have a small hernia. 2.Another is not eating and drinking at the same time is SO difficult. And I'm worried that I'll regain from it being able to do it.3.My SO isn't too thrilled about it because he's worried about complications and that I won't be good at post-op lifestyle changes and that's a little discouraging. I'm hardly taking his opinion into consideration though.4.And lastly, does anyone post-op have something similar to dumping? Diarrhea, runny stools, frequent bathroom trips etc?Sent from my SM-S515DL using BariatricPal mobile app
kristieshannon 1,668 Posted March 6, 2021 I was really worried about the drinking while eating thing too. It’s really ended up being a non issue. I occasionally take a small sip of Water while eating, but otherwise am just fine drinking before eating and then again 1/2 hour afterwards. I was also really worried about missing drinking my fave, Coke Zero. Again a non issue, I don’t miss it at all. 1 aquastars reacted to this

They can usually fix those when they do the sleeve. 47 minutes ago, aquastars said: 2.Another is not eating and drinking at the same time is SO difficult. The most common one with sleeve is GERD, but that happens to about 30% and can often be managed medically. So 70% of sleeve patients DON'T have it. 47 minutes ago, aquastars said: 4.And lastly, does anyone post-op have something similar to dumping? Diarrhea, runny stools, frequent bathroom trips etc? although some people do have issues with diarrhea with sleeve (and bypass, too), Constipation is WAY more common. You see diarrhea more with duodenal switch patients. 47 minutes ago, aquastars said: Sent from my SM-S515DL using BariatricPal mobile app 1 1 aquastars and PuraVida37 reacted to this
