I am a bit more than 3 months post VSG and I just hit a total of 100 pounds lost! 42.4 lbs lost after surgery. I feel so fortunate to have had this surgery. I feel better in every way and am finally able to get control of my weight, which has plagued me my whole life. I still have 73.8 lbs to go to goal, but who is counting. 😬

A few random observations about the difference 100 lbs makes:
1. I am weirded out by how my body feels different- like when I rest my chin in my hand it feels hard because I can actually feel my jawline now.
2. I love getting closer to actual human shaped- I felt like a blob before especially since I was carrying so much weight in my stomach and abdomen. I can actually cross my legs now!
3. I’m not saying I’d feel comfortable in any chair in the world, but there’s a few chairs out there with arms that I am feeling a lot better about nowadays (if you know you know!)
4. It turns out I actually don’t like flowy a-line tunic style tops, I was just trying to hide my midsection.
5. Being able to walk places and up staircases without dying halfway through is so freeing. I feel so much faster and energetic throughout the day.

All these improvements and I’m still in the Obese weight range. I’m excited to see how I feel once I’m just overweight, ha!

I agree so much with all five, but this one hit hard. Who knew I didn't like the open plaid shirt + t-shirt (with a slightly larger neck opening to give the illusion that *I* had a neck)? Well, I knew.

Congratulations and great job! It makes such a difference not to be carrying around an extra 100 pounds. Can you imagine trying to walk up a flight of stairs wearing a backpack with 100 pounds in it? That's basically what we were doing before. Chairs are kind of a mixed bag because I no longer have to worry about chair arms digging into my legs, but my butt is always sore now that I don't have all that extra built-in padding (although it does help to be able to cross my legs -- now I understand why people like to sit that way).

We'll have to get you a new name, Ms. LittleSue!

Congrats, I can so relate! I made a whole post about how my body feels different to me now: I feel kind of disoriented in my new body... and my #1 was the same as yours, LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
