Lean Cuisine & Healthy Choice Meals

Recommended Posts

I recently started eating Lean Cuisine & Healthy Choice frozen meals. I only eat the ones with meat & veggies, which are hard to find. Most of them have Pasta, and rice. My favorite is the turkey with veggies. It has a lot of carbs though from the sweet potato. Does anyone else eat these? Do you eat a different brand? Are there any flavors you like & want to share?

Lean Cuisine has an offshoot called Life Cuisine which has better low-carb options as they swap out the pasta/rice for cauliflower/cauliflower rice.

Healthy Choice seems to be expanding in that direction, too, as I've picked up a couple of their bowls that used cauliflower rice instead. I tried the chicken Tikka Masala one yesterday and it was delicious.

Oh Ok TY I will look for the Life Cuisine at my grocery store. The store where I shop, has limited choices. I am thinking that I will have to try different stores to find these things.

Healthwise is an excellent brand for microwaveable meals. The only downside is they're not sold in stores and have to be ordered online. I find I can eat their pasta-based dishes without worrying about weight gain or dumping. Their lasagna is especially delicious.

As a side note if you ever do have a hankering for Pasta though, I highly recommend you try out the Great Low Carb bread Co. I mastered bariatric-friendly macaroni and cheese thanks to their macaroni and am more than pleased! :)

Unfortunately, a lot of what we can eat as far as "quick fixes" just aren't sold in stores and/or are hard to find. It sucks. 😕

I found 2 Lean Cuisines readily available at my grocery store that weren't terrible--Beef Tips & Broccoli was one. None of the "high Protein meals" made my cut off as they all were high in carbs. Also, the portion size may be too big depending upon your size. I keep 2 Lean Cuisines in the freezer as a just in case to take for lunch. I haven't had to use them yet.

I found I wasn't able to eat a Lean Cuisine meal until my 4th or 5th month.

Has anyone tried Healthy Choice Power Bowls? I eat them all the time now but not sure about how they will go down post surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
