Emergency Preparedness

Recommended Posts

Today, I was reading a list of guidelines regarding supplies that households should keep on hand to survive 3 or more days in case of earthquakes, winter utility outages, etc. One prominent requirement is to have non-perishable foods stocked, for example, but many of the emergency kits seem to be hugely slanted towards Pasta. I wonder if anyone here keep an emergency kit stocked, and, if so, what do you stock for your non-perishable bariatric food needs?

What are nut butter packets. I mean obviously Peanut Butter but are they natural and where do you get packets. I live in florida and these are great ideas for me to stock up for hurricanes.

Amazon has them in bulk. There's almond butter, Peanut Butter, etc. Yes, they are natural and come in one serving, 2Tbsp. packets.

Ooh wow they have tons of them. Any brand suggestions.

I like the Maranatha because they don't have added ingredients.

Ooh they have those at Walmart too. The jar and the pouches. Thanks.

These nut butter packets are surprisingly good and they have them at Walmart. Perfect for emergency kits as well as just on the go Protein boost. Thanks for the tip.

Tins of Beans, tomatoes, chick peas, lentils, vegetables & fish, dried barley, etc. Keep powdered stock on hand too. You’ll get Protein from the beans, chick peas, barley & lentils. I always have frozen vegetables on hand too just in case & keep rotating out & using frozen mince, chicken thighs, diced beef, etc. & freezing fresh packs. I can shop from my pantry & freezer for a couple of weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
