Recommended Posts

Ive got 5.5ml in my lap band & ive stopped loosing weight over last year and half & even gained a bit. Cant see surgeon to get a fill because of covid, eating one meal a day just now & just small biscuits through day, its tough and my eating habits have changed

Ugh, sorry to hear you're struggling.

Can you share your journey with us? Highest weight, weight at lapband, weight now? What made you choose the band?

Sure, i was 22 stone when i started in aug 2014 my weight came off slowly as i had a few tummy bugs and my fill had to be taken out then put back in. The lowest i got to was 14 stone 9 in aug 2018 now im back up to 16 and half stone. Dont always feel restricted as pouch must be stretched. My port is also in my breast bone, i was not aware it was going there until after the op was done, i was told it would be in my side. It is annoying being in my breast bone & is nudged quite easily. I really want another fill & more weight to come off. I have loose skin on my arms, back & tummy which effects me greatly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
