This surgery has got me looking like SpongeBob square pants. I have lost so much weight in my bottom half, and am noticeably bigger on top. My legs are like little chicken legs, my ass is completely gone, and flatter than a pancake. I am a medium bottom, and large top. Is this happening to anyone else?

bodies are all different. I was apple-shaped when I was obese, and now that I'm normal weight, I'm "rectangle shaped" (hadn't heard this one before a couple of years ago). I asked my plastic surgeon about it, hoping he could nip my waist in, but he said there wasn't much he could do - some people are just shaped like that. So at any rate, sounds like you have the same shape.

I think your right. I was also apple shaped when I was obese. I never heard of rectangle either. That sucks to know there is nothing that can be done about it.

re: rectangle-shaped - yea, it was a new one on me as well. But my measurements are 36-34-38 - so almost a perfect rectangle-shaped person!! (and I have very little fat anymore, so it's all just my body structure...)

I do not like it at all. I know everyone is different, but I look weird.

I've heard that for some people, the fat may redistribute itself after you hit your lowest weight, so you might get some back in certain areas... For me, my belly wants to hold onto the fat. I've lost 170 pounds and I'm still an apple.

Yeah I am having a hard time with my belly as well. It is the only place that won't go away. Wow, congrats on losing so much weight. That is so awesome!

What are your measurements? Sounds to me you are an "Inverted Triangle" (like me! I have wide shoulders compared to the rest of my body).

I was always hourglass shaped. Still am but the difference between my breast, waist & hip measurement is much smaller.

Have a friend who is an inverted triangle. Was size 18 top size 10/12 bottom. She had a breast reduction but was still a size 16 top - can’t change your skeleton.

My ass slowly disappeared too but I compared it to Hank Hill. 😁

I’ve noticed there is a little fullness again in the butt region so I do think your remaining fat does redistribute a bit after a while. Still get terrible bony butt pain though. Had to stand at my hairdresser the other day cause the pain was so bad.

My ass hurts too if I sit too long now. It is like I am sitting on a bone.

that seems to happen to most of us, regardless of shape. Mine doesn't really bother me anymore. I guess over time I must have figured out how to sit on it to minimize that..

I bought a cushiony chair pad from Amazon. It helps a little bit. I also had to buy a cushion toilet seat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
