How to Start the WLS Process?

Hey everyone!

Thank you for all of the advice with insurance, but I'm all set on that front! I actually called my insurance prior to making this post and made sure the surgery was covered, asked what my out-of-pocket cost would be, and if I needed a referral or not (and I did, which is why I made this post )

In my previous comment, I just meant I will leave the insurance paperwork to the doctor's team! (Though I do plan to be a burden and double/triple check that all referrals are in, everything is on-track, etc.)

Also, minor update: my PCP gave me the referral! She was so supportive of my decision and made me feel even more excited about this opportunity. Now, I am waiting to book a consult with the surgeon. I can't wait!

I actually haven’t talked with my PCP about it. I had so many appointments where I wanted to talk about my weight problems and was just told to eat right and exercise. I’ve been trying for years to lose weight and tried so many programs. I finally called the weight loss center myself to see what options I had. I think I’m actually going to ask my surgeon if she can refer me to a PCP who is a little more supportive.
