Something that has helped me with this problem is I break open a capsule of ginger (you can get the supplement ones or just use like a teaspoon of powdered ginger) and stir it into 6 ounces of chicken Bone Broth. Both are known for combatting nausea and the bone broth provides you with more Protein than regular chicken broth. Also, I started to stretch myself gently over a stability ball each morning and it has made a huge difference in that pain I was having in my abdomen from sipping/eating.

I'm a month out from R&Y and nothing tastes good. I got to the point where I had to stop the shakes. Then I tried tasteless GENEPRO Protein Powder. I used to drink Decaf tea sweetened with Splenda all of the time. I've started back with it, mix in some lemon juice, add the GenePro, mixes right in and I can't taste a thing. So it has enabled me to get in some Protein. At a month now I'm able to eat some fruit and it tastes fair but it seems I have some indigestion after everything I eat. From what I've read this does get better. As for now, it's helping me get the weight off. If I could just go without eating, I would, but I'm eating now just for nourishment.

I just hit (6) months and I'm starting to feel this way, too. Literally, I typed "i hate food" so I could find stories to relate to this. More than likely it's a good thing, feeling like it's a chore to eat, eating to stop the shakes, or prevent fainting; but it seems like a phase? Oh well. Hope it gets better, Suzi!

I'm happy to report that this has gone away- THANK the GODS! I guess it was just my stomach fully healing. Thank you for all the advice and sympathy!

I am so grateful for this conversation. I’m six weeks post op and miserable. I absolutely hate food and Water.

I’m so resentful that this surgery has made me sick everyday. I know it will get better. Everyone tells me to be patient and wait. That’s not really helpful advice because I have no choice but to wait.

I’m so angry about this it’s spilling over to the rest of my life. I didn’t go to work twice this week for fear I would take it out on one of my co-workers.

If I could make a bargain with God that I would not lose another pound but could eat and drink without pain I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m happy with the 30 lbs I’ve lost so far.

I am soooo sorry you are so miserable right now. Did your dr give you something for nausea? I know you know it will pass, but keep thinking about the 30 lbs of success you have achieved. chicken broth can help. There is a product called Bone Broth which will help you keep up your Protein. I am assuming you have discussed with your physician and or dietician. Just know we are praying for you. I am nearly 2 years post op and went thru it. I only say that to encourage you. You will succeed!!

I'm 6 weeks post op and no matter what I eat, I feel ill. I hate food now. I never want to eat anymore, I'm barely able to eat anything. When I eat, it hurts. When I drink (sip!), it hurts. I get dry heaves almost daily. I'm having a hard time meeting my macros, my meds make me feel sick too. Haven't met with my (b***h) doctor yet- she has the worst bedside manner I have EVER encountered! I do not feel confident or comfortable talking to her at all about my issues. I've even tried switching to another program but that "just isn't done." I hope this passes, I feel so hopeless rn.

So sorry, She needs to admit you and run test. This surgery screwed me all up too lol I can no longer take artificial sweeteners( been a diabetic for 4 years and had no problem before) the artificial sweeteners bloat me so bad and cause soooo much pain. I can tolerate everything else. I went through a rough patch too week 1-4. I pray you get some kind of relief.

Kevy, what type of surgery did you have? What Protein Shake are you using?

I am now 2 months out from surgery. I've found the only meats I can tolerate is tuna packets and smoked salmon. I can round out the day with GENEPRO in diluted juice, a Protein Bar, I can eat some raw veggies (cooked ones make me nauseous) some fruits are tolearable. I have been able to eat some bran Cereal to keep the pipes working. 😉The wife had her family over last night, she picked up Pulled Pork BBQ, which I used to love, and I took one bite and had to literally spit it out. I can't salt anything. All dressings make salad unbearable. It's getting exhausting.

I'd ask for anyone who has had aversion to meats such as chicken, ground beef and pork, what are you eating? I'd love some recommendations because I'm in a real rut with the tuna and salmon. I don't know how how much longer I can go with JUST tuna and salmon.

It all sorted itself out. Guess it was just my body healing?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
