severe pain after exercising

Recommended Posts

i have been experiencing extreme pain in my port area after i walk. this usually happens if i walk too fast on the treadmill.. if i keep it a bit slower its alrite.. i was banded on 3 nov n it has been a month since.. is this normal? shouldnt i be able to exercise normally now?

i do not have any infection/redness etc and the wounds have been healing well.. so im a bit concerned..

is anyone else going through something similar?

4 weeks and you are still healing. I still had bad port pain when exercising even at week # 8 post op. You just have to take it easy. Are you really using your abs? I can do just about any exercise now as long as I stay away from sit-ups/core work.

TulipStar's right--I've been to the YMCA three times now and just discovered that the leg press is what's been killing my port area! I just didn't realize how much I was using my abs in working on that machine.

So, go slow on the treadmill and in a few weeks, up the speed and see how it works out! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
