icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 23 Posted February 9, 2021 Hi, I'm 7 days post op sleeve. I keep getting asked if I'm wearing a binder. My surgeon wasn't crazy about this but now I'm wondering if I should. Can anyone recommend a good binder or belt they've used, please?
mae7365 372 Posted February 9, 2021 I was given one after bypass surgery and used it the first week. I'm not sure why I was wearing it since I wasn't given one after my Gastric Sleeve surgery. The only time I found it helpful was when I went to bed. It allowed me to sleep on my side (vs. my back). I'm a stomach sleeper, but couldn't go there even with the binder. Not sure this helped, but figured I'd share. I personally wouldn't waste my money on one. I would never have used it if I hadn't been given one at the hospital. 1 icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 reacted to this
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 23 Posted February 9, 2021 This does help! Thank you. I have tried sleeping on my side since surgery and it hurts too much. I'm so sore from sleeping on my back. I switch between the couch and the bed but still so achy. Thanks for the info!

I had one for plastic surgery, though.. Edited February 9, 2021 by catwoman7

GreenTealael 25,439 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) I wasn’t given one for WLS but, it was necessary for plastics. If you decide you need it, I would suggest getting one that is not expensive as you probably won’t use it for very long. Here’s an example: https://www.amazon.com/Wide-Abdominal-Binder-Belly-Wrap/dp/B08FYLDQJ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=plus+size+abdominal+binder+post+surgery&qid=1612884366&sr=8-12 Edited February 9, 2021 by GreenTealael 1 icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 reacted to this
Neensyb 111 Posted February 9, 2021 I didn't have one, but I was given advice from a physiotherapist to hold my belt with a pillow if I needed to sneeze or cough....

Arabesque 7,442 Posted February 10, 2021 Didn’t use one & neither did my friends who had the surgery. I couldn’t stand anything around my waist & used to roll/fold my waist bands down to my hip line. I didn’t have any issues sleeping on my side either. We’re all different. If you feel you need the support you could try one but at 7 days post surgery you’d only probably use it for another week or so.
minimamaz00m 61 Posted February 10, 2021 I got one from Amazon, was not impressed, and then found these. I bought 2 so I could wash one while I wore the other. Comfortable enough to sleep in or wear all day. I wore them under my underwear so they wouldn’t get in the way when I needed to go to the bathroom. My incisions healed up so fast and it doesn’t feel like I’m flopping around. https://incrediwear.com/collections/upper-body/products/incrediwear-body-sleeve 1 icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 reacted to this
