NiceAnkles 147 Posted February 6, 2021 My sleeve surgery went really well! My surgeon said it only took him about an hour. He’d told me it could be up to three. I had a hiatal hernia that he took care of. That probably explains my occasional reflux. He also took a liver biopsy because I’d been diagnosed with a fatty liver. Biopsy is Just so we can tell how much it had progressed. The worst part was waking up with shoulder/chest pain from the gas. Heating pads and walking helped. I’ve been able to slowly sip some Water and Protein water. The hospital broth and Jello was yucky and I didn’t eat them. slept horribly at the hospital though, so I’m headed to bed now. Will check in later. 7 1 3 LisaZar, pdc1605, ChunkyCali and 8 others reacted to this

Dubai_MGB 13 Posted February 6, 2021 Glad it went well!! I just got sleeved too on February 3. Hospital Jello and broth was disgusting! Managed some apple juice while in hospital. Now that I am back home, I’m sipping on cold milk, coconut Water, some runny Greek yogurts. 1 NiceAnkles reacted to this

NiceAnkles 147 Posted February 7, 2021 Thank you all. 🙂 I am so tired of sip, sip, sipping all day long. I think I’ve finally got my sipping size down. A sip too large and it hurts. 1 GreenThumb reacted to this

GreenThumb 37 Posted February 7, 2021 Glad things went well for you! I don't think the docs are clear enough when they tell you to sip. I assumed that meant 3 sips per ounce (tiny cup), but no, in the first couple days it needs to be 8-10 sips per tiny cup. THAT would have been helpful info before I attempted to down ice Water. OMG. Yeah, for sure! Some of my sips seemed like a teeny drip with barely anything to swallow. Today is much better for me. I’ve already had two Protein Drinks but not gonna lie, not looking forward to the third. How are you doing, GreenThumb? 2 GreenThumb and icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 reacted to this
icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 23 Posted February 8, 2021 Wow two Protein drinks? Good job! I had my sleeve 5 days ago and I'm lucky if I have 40-48 oz from 6am to midnight. It's so hard for me because of the pain.Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 NiceAnkles reacted to this

Feeling a little better each day, BUT also running into "interesting" issues each day, too. My first Vitamin got stuck yesterday and took over an hour to dissolve, so today I opened the capsule into orange Gatorade Zero (don't do that!). This evening I ordered soft chews and will try again in a month. The pain from the "deep stitch" has been a lot. I guess not everyone has this, but it's an internal stitch that, if a bit tight, pulls and can cause you to feel like you're being stabbed by a hot knife. Eventually the stitch dissolves and the weird dimple in your abdomen disappears and relief is immediate. BUT it's been a little fun/interesting to see and smell all the food my family is making and eating and there's ZERO hunger. I usually take a giant whiff and that's enough to satisfy. I've heard that hunger eventually returns, but right now there's nothing. Weird but cool. How are you? Is it as cold in Colorado as it is in Nebraska? I was advised to get children’s chewable and omigosh they taste chalky and terrible. How would kids ever take them? Blech! I need some soft chews also. What are you getting? today was not a good day for me. I had terrible, breathtakingly awful gas pain in the morning as I was trying to get my first Protein Shake down. They subsided mid-day but by then I was not even trying to drink any more shake. I called my bariatric clinic and the nurse said if I couldn’t stomach them not to force them and at least try for Clear Liquids. I had a heating pad at my back/shoulders a lot today. Your stitch pain sounds awful. I hope that stops soon for you. Do you have a follow up appointment soon? I have one Thursday. I too, am noticing and appreciating food smells but same...no hunger for food at all. these people (my family) are barely preparing food though since I’m not cooking, And it is chilly here today. The worst is the cold wind.
