Today Has Been A Day Where My Anxiety Defeated Me

Recommended Posts

Isn't it wonderful to wake up some days and feel like you are ready to take anything? But on the other side of the bed, there's anxiety badgering you about the million and one things that will go wrong today. People would call me over-emotional, some would tell me to move past my problems and carry on. But they don't understand that I can't just put the things that worrying me or dragging me down and never look back. Today has been a day where my anxiety defeated me but posting here is my way of taking back control, It might be temporary, and I have accepted that, but I’ll bounce back because I always do.

You didn't say if your anxiety was specifically related to your upcoming surgery, but yeah, I think it's pretty normal to be all over the map while you prepare for this.

If you're talking about chronic anxiety, then perhaps it's time to talk to your doc or a therapist? All these body changes can mess with our meds/dosages, etc. And I know for me, personally, this process has brought up some issues I didn't expect. I plan to find a therapist who has experience dealing with bariatric patients, both to address issues that might keep me from being successful, but also the things that have surfaced.

Take things one minute, one hour, one day at a time!

I seriously suffered from anxiety for years. I understand not being able to move past something and it can get the better of us! Since taking Paxil XR and Abilify, I feel like a new person! It’s like one day a lightbulb went on. I could see things so differently and handle things so well! Ask your doctor about them. Best wishes!!!💕

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
