KellyMarie8288 29 Posted January 21, 2021 Hello,I'm 4DPO. I'm feeling pretty good. Today I almost felt normal. I have noticed that it's getting easier to drink. I still have some pain after swallowing, but no where near as much as I did on day 1 & 2. I know it wasn't supposed to hurt forever, but have I stretched my pouch already? On liquids? I'm hitting my minimum protein/water goals with little struggle. Is it always going to be this way? I'm stressed out when I start on solids it's going to ruin it and be all for nothing. kristieshannon 1,669 Posted January 21, 2021 I had no problem getting in my liquids from day one either. I really started to feel my restriction kick in when I started solids. 16 months later it’s still strong, and I’m down 131 lbs. Just keep following your surgeons guidelines! 3 butterisnotacarb, Arabesque and KellyMarie8288 reacted to this

I can't take huge mouthfuls, but liquid doesn't have any negative impact on me at all now and I'm getting lots of it in every day. My skin is VERY thankful for it, so is my toilet time....sorry TMI....you DON'T want the Constipation believe me. 1 KellyMarie8288 reacted to this
Pandemonium 515 Posted January 22, 2021 In my first few days post-op, I had no trouble with fluids. The biggest obstacle I had was forcing myself to drink slowly. Seriously...drinking 1 ounce of water/Crystal Light/Pedialyte every 15 minutes and making it LAST 15 minutes was absolute torture. But yeah...unless you are guzzling fluids in large quantities and doing it quickly, you're not really going to feel constriction from it. That will ALL change as soon as you start moving towards soft foods. Just listen to your body and learn the new signals that will tell you when to stop. It just takes time and patience. 2 Arabesque and KellyMarie8288 reacted to this
RickM 1,752 Posted January 22, 2021 Not at all, nothing wrong with what you are feeling. Some will have more inflammation in their stomachs than others, and they have more difficulty drinking/sipping than others. The instructions that are given to sip, sip, sip an ounce of Water every 5, 10, 15 or whatever minutes is just a minimum rate to try for is you are struggling; if you can sip faster without distress, that's great. I was able to down a bowl of broth (6-8 oz?) and a juice box (4oz) within a half hour or so - in the hospital. In the same phase, my wife could barely drink her nominal 4 0z stomach size in one sitting. The doc wasn't worried with either, as they are both within normal expectations. Water should just flow on through with little restriction, but may be more restricted if you are more inflamed than others. Nothing is stretching as things are just flowing on through as they should. Continue sipping as too big of a gulp can hurt or come back up for a while, but you should be able to drink fairly normally within the month or whatever time the doc may say is ok (no chugging though!) 1 KellyMarie8288 reacted to this
