Grahamco 9 Posted January 19, 2021 I had the gastric bypass in 2004 lost 100 pounds and unfortunately have gained them back. I’m looking into getting a revision surgery. It’s just revising my gastric bypass I’m not switching to any kind of different weight loss surgery. I would like to know of anyone that has had this same thing done and how much weight did you lose 3 Tina Leo, GreenTealael and skyeblu81 reacted to this
AB 2 Posted January 23, 2021 I had a revision done on 1/11/21, MD made pouch smaller and did a distal bypass lengthening the common channel to 250 cm. I am still on liquids at this point but have lost 10 lbs. I was on a liver reduction diet 2 weeks prior to surgery and lost 17 lbs on that.Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app 2 SeattleLady and GreenTealael reacted to this
Grahamco 9 Posted January 23, 2021 Wow that is awesome!!!! Thanks for responding. I’m in debates my insurance denied my revision and I’m thinking about hiring an advocate agency to help me fight it. But before I pay them money I’m trying to see how beneficial it will be. I’ve heard different stories about revisions and I would love to check in with you and see how your progress is going if you don’t mind. That sounds exactly what my revision would be if I get it. Thanks again and congrats on your journey 3 GreenTealael, AB and SeattleLady reacted to this
brittu 42 Posted January 26, 2021 I’m considering a revision but am doing intermittent fasting for a few months and returning to the eat Protein first basics before I decide. Fasting worked well with my sleeve until Covid, antidepressants and menopause did a triple wammy regain-wise. Very frustrating since I’m 10 years out. I plan to use fasting for maintenance regardless, just thinking that greater restriction would be nice to have. Interesting to hear what others are considering. 2 SeattleLady and AB reacted to this

YESSYISAWESOME 13 Posted February 25, 2021 congrats !! yay ! I just got my revision on 2/18/2021. They resized my pouch and did something else not sure exactly. The doctors explained it but not sure exactly. Are you going through your insurance?

The doctors explained it but not sure exactly. Are you going through your insurance? Yes, my insurance approved after a meeting between my doc and theirs. My original bypass is not "industry standard" - that is - the candy cane part of the intestine that they distallized originally is too long and potentially holding food. While they are shortening that, they'll minimize my pouch and reattach a little further down to give me the benefit of malabsorption. It won't be as drastic as the first time, but it will certainly help! How is your recovery going? How long are you off work?
YESSYISAWESOME 13 Posted February 25, 2021 My recovery is going pretty good. I am still on liquid diet. I did however come back to work right away. I had my revision last Thursday, got released on Friday. Came back to work on Monday ! I am not so sour. I was Saturday and Sunday, but since i work from home its not all that bad. I am just really praying and hoping this REVISION puts me back on track to loose weight again. Crossing my fingers !! 1 skyeblu81 reacted to this

I do have to drive to go to work, but I teach High School so its not like I'm moving furniture or anything. I'll find out more on Wednesday at my pre-op appointment. I'm so happy to hear you feel good!
Grahamco 9 Posted February 25, 2021 I’m excited for all you guys! And thanks for the responses! I’m still fighting with insurance on mine. But it’s great to see some updates on revisions. There’s not a lot of info on revision stories and how they go. Would love to keep up with your progress and success!!!

Locally we have a Weight Loss and Wellness Center affiliated with one of our hospitals. They are phenomenal and do ALL of the dealing with insurance and appeals and all of that. I'm happy to share their information if you are near enough to Springfield Illinois and would like their help. My revision was initially denied as well, and within two weeks they had arranged a phone call with the insurance company's doctor and my PA. I didn't have to do a thing except worry!
