I'm so glad y'all brought this up - how on earth do you figure out what feeling means what?!

I have no idea if I'm full or not. Today I had a Tbs of greek yogurt twice today and I really couldn't tell you if it made me full. I *think* hunger feels like a wave of a stomach cramp (though the signal definitely does not get to my head). I know when I need to slow down on liquids, but it mostly feels like gas followed by a painful burp. I get all sorts of random pains or gurgles or squeezes - often when I'm not drinking or eating anything. But other than hunger, nothing feels like it used to or makes much sense at this point.

I do know anything other than FairLife CorePower is so sweet it makes me want to hurl.

Yes, this is quite a learning experience..

I start burping also. And I make myself stop and ask myself if I am really hungry.

Like others on the liquid diet I would get cravings and hunger and did not want to stray from directions but I had a few pureed meals early hoping to satisfy hunger and it worked a bit. My doctor told me an extra shake on the liquid diet would not hurt. I saw somewhere that the average post op stomach pouch can hold 5 tablespoons. My NUT told me we are allowed 8 Tablespoons on the pureed diet. So my advice is check with your NUT and doctor and have them verify the amount of food that should make you feel full. A tablespoon of eggs sounds like a drop in the bucket. I think we are all justifiably so afraid of overeating that we are constantly underestimating the amounts we can have on the diet, especially when we are having few or no other side effects.

I have been wondering about this! I am day 11 post op sleeve and am dying to eat something of substance...puree would he heaven. I almost did it today and made eggs but I didn't. I am so afraid of doing something wrong and ending up back in the hospital.

I'm not advocating cheating on diet but I have not had any upset stomach or indigestion since day 1. So I did try puree a few days early to satisfy hunger for one meal a day. I tested it a bit at a time the first night and no pain or discomfort so I tried it again. This was just 3 days before I switched. One week of puree, I will wait the whole week for full soft foods.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
