Has anyone suffered with being cold only at night. It’s gotten to the point where I have to sleep with a blow dryer to keep warm. I lost my job and insurance due to covid so I have not had the opportunity to do lab work. And sometimes I feel faint if I do something like move too fast or bend or lift something heavy. Any recommendations or suggestions?

My suggestion is to use a heating pad with auto-off timer instead of a blow-dryer (too risky).

I use a heating pad/heated blanket/heated bed sheets nearly constantly since surgery because I'm also ALWAYS cold.

I don't know when you had surgery, but both of those things you mentioned are pretty common, esp during the first year or so. The latter is often due to low blood pressure - just get up slowly and try to avoid sudden movements. I dealt with both of those things my first year out.

Oh please don't sleep with a hair dryer. It's not safe. Get yourself an electric blanket. There are a lot of people on here who say they are cold all the time post-WLS so it's something pretty common. Feeling faint when you stand up or move is pretty common too. What I found was that I had been on blood pressure medicine before the WLS and afterward after losing enough weight, I didn't need it anymore, and it was making me faint so I stopped taking it.

I have always been hot natured. Most of the time I would sleep with a blanket at all. Now I'm cold all of the time. I've had to buy a heater for under my desk at work. I now sleep with two blankets at night. I bring a jacket and gloves everywhere. I'm glad to not be hot, but this is crazy too!!!

Yes! Me too---especially during the first couple weeks when I had to be on blood thinners. I wore a fleece jacket 24/7. Even in bed. I sometimes use a heating pad and/or a hot water bottle. Please don't keep sleeping with a hair-dryer; it's too risky. I hope you take Mr. Alley Gator up on his offer of an electric blanket. These are rough times we are all wading through; you can pay it forward when you are working again. Just my two cents. Sending you blessings for all good things. 💜

Same here, two weeks post op and cannot get warm enough either. My doctor has me on a "keto" style diet and said cold hands & feet are to be expected while your body is in ketosis. It will balance out over time so for now, layer up and stay warm the best you can without a blow dryer.

I’m going through the exact same thing! The only way I’ve figured out how to deal with it is to take a hot bath right before bed. I think it’s due to reduced calorie intake. The body is trying to conserve energy so it’s not generating any more heat than it needs to.

I am abt 6 months post op vsg now and freezing all the time. I used to sleep naked at night with a fan and sweat profusely through the day prior to surgery. Now my husband hates it because I have sweatpants, a hoodie, 2 blankets and a heating pad to go to bed every night[emoji1787] i have had hyperhidrosis since I was a child. This made my hands, feet and armpits stay soaking wet with sweat at ALL times. Im 32 years old now and as much as i hate being cold, i am so happy to have dry cold body parts since surgery[emoji1787] oh and i also feel faint and even queasy often now but i assume i need to up my Water intake[emoji2372] anyways tho, it's all very "normal" apparently because many ppl talk about experiencing it as well. I hope u find what works for u! Good luck!

Hey why don't you get yourself a hot Water bottle or even put on some extra layers or fleecy pjs in bed as that's what helps me. Also get some electrolytes in you. Sos is what i use. I add a sachet of sos powder in 500ml water bottle and I'm good.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
